Former UFC heavyweight champ and current WWE superstar Brock Lesnar is coming off a clash with The Undertaker last night at Raw where the Beast Incarnate got tombstoned. The Conqueror was healthy enough today though to appear on ESPN’s SportsCenter to discuss his upcoming rematch with Undertaker this Sunday at SummerSlam.
Still remembered for his stint in the UFC by MMA fans, Lesnar was asked his thoughts on Ronda Rousey’s dominance inside the octagon.
“I think she’s a super athlete in a weak division,” Lesnar stated. “I really do. I think that she is a man amongst women in the women’s division. I take my hat off to her. She’s doing an excellent job at what she’s doing. I don’t know how she’s juggling everything… movies, this that and the other thing, and going to Brazil and kicking butt over there and doing all the stuff she’s doing. My hat’s off to you Ronda… I’m not taking any talent away from her at all. She’s a super beast, a super freak in the women’s division.”
I’ve heard other men make this argument about Rousey being a “super athlete” in a weak division. I haven’t heard any women make that claim yet for some reason, although I’m sure some feel that way too. If that is your opinion, that’s fine, but that is also not her fault nor should she be looked at any differently because of it. Every one she has faced has been a formidable opponent and there were several who people thought “would be the one” to take down the champ. And she has had real opposition. Miesha Tate, who is getting another shot at Rousey, did better than anyone against her, escaping the dreaded armbar, taking Rousey’s back and taking her past the first round.
Is it possible Lesnar is just feeling a little jelly? He better be careful, because when Rousey’s done with the UFC she might come show you what a woman among men can do in the WWE.
