Over two and half years later, there I was, again, standing in front of the hometown hero. This man was a married father of two boys. He instructs men how to fend for themselves on free time from building things.
When I was a young man I would work year round in my community to put money in my pocket. In the summer I would work on construction sites with my stepfather. In the fall I would rake and bundle leaves.
The reality of our situation makes the cage the only spot that freedom’s light shines. I will do anything for the opportunity to experience freedom’s warmth. The draw of other tangibles cease to appeal once that leap is made. It’s a fun ride!
