A recent video posted to the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s Youtube account shows ONE FC welterweight champ (and former Bellator champ) Ben Askren at what appears to be a PR event answering questions about how CM Punk is looking in the gym. Askren is the wrestling coach at Roufusport in Milwaukee where former WWE superstar CM Punk is currently training for his UFC debut. Askren says Punk understands the task set before him.
Askren has his own task set before him as he prepares for his upcoming ONE FC title defense against Luis “Sapo” Santos, a 61-9-1 veteran who has finished his last seven opponents in highlight reel fashion.
Askren’s record is a perfect 14-0 but this could likely be his toughest test to date. The UFC balked at signing the two-time NCAA wrestling champion after his stint in Bellator. However, if he can keep finishing guys like he has in his last four fights, the UFC’s Youtube page might NOT actually be the closest he gets to fighting inside the Octagon.
