The Fastest Growing Energy Drink Brand Continues to Be the Official Energy Drink of the UFC
LAS VEGAS (Feb. 21, 2013) – XYIENCE Xenergy, the official energy drink of the UFC ®, announces that it has renewed its contracts with its professional athlete brand ambassadors including UFC fighters Dan “The Outlaw” Hardy, Matt “The Terror” Serra, and Krzysztof “The Polish Experiment” Soszynski. Legendary BMX rider Mike Escamilla and spokesmodel Amanda Corey have also signed on for another year. Hardy will represent the brand’s sugar-free, zero calorie beverage products including Xenergy Energy and Xenergy + Hydration, Tea and Lemonade. The other ambassadors will represent XYIENCE’s beverage and supplement product lines. All contracts run through December 31, 2013.
The ambassadors will make appearances on behalf of the brand at consumer events as well as at beverage and nutrition trade events. They will also participate in special XYIENCE consumer-oriented promotions and video projects.
“Our team of ambassadors understands and shares XYIENCE’s brand philosophy,” says John Lennon, XYIENCE’s president. “Over the years, they have come to the table with unique and creative ideas and have become ingrained in the XYIENCE family. They also share a great chemistry that translates to success at special events for our consumers.”
XYIENCE Xenergy also recently extended its sponsorship deal with the UFC, which means that its logo will be positioned inside the Octagon during select Pay-Per-View broadcasts along with other sponsor benefits. Shortly after extending its sponsorship contract with the UFC, the XYIENCE Xenergy logo appeared on the mat of the Octagon during UFC® 156: Aldo vs. Edgar, a sold out Pay-Per-View event on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, held at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.
Dan “The Outlaw” Hardy
Dan Hardy first joined the XYIENCE team in 2010. He is a native of Nottingham, England, who began studying Tae Kwon Do at the age of 6 and went on to earn his first-degree black belt. With 14 years of traditional martial arts training, the charismatic Hardy then decided to cross-train in other styles, including Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, for which he earned his purple belt under the famed practitioner and coach Eddie Bravo.
Signing with the UFC in 2008, Hardy walked away victorious from his first three UFC matches and quickly became a star in the welterweight division. He earned the distinction as the first British fighter to challenge a UFC title in his 2010 match against George St. Pierre.
A huge fan favorite for his high energy and devastating striking abilities inside the cage, his pursuits outside the octagon have also earned Hardy much deserved recognition. In addition to his work as an artist and his love of classical cars, video games, and hardcore and punk music, Hardy has received awards for his work as a vocal animal welfare activist. Hardy and his fiancée, Elizabeth, split time between his hometown of Nottingham, England, and Las Vegas.
Matt “The Terror” Serra
A part of Team XYIENCE since 2009, former UFC welterweight champion Matt “The Terror” Serra may be best known for his success inside the octagon, but the East Meadow, New York, native is also an accomplished businessman, coach, mentor and family man.
Serra won several titles early in his professional career, but it was his impressive second-place finish in 2000 at the prestigious ADCC Submission Wrestling World Championships that garnered the attention of the UFC and led to the offer of a contract. He has gone on to earn several honors as a UFC competitor, including the Welterweight Champion in Season 4 of The Ultimate Fighter and UFC Welterweight Champion for his impressive TKO of Georges St. Pierre, a fight many consider to be one of the biggest upsets in MMA history.
When not fighting in the octagon, Serra and his brother, Nick, run two Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu schools in their home state of New York. Serra believes in giving back to the MMA community by investing in up-and-coming fighters, following the example set by his long-time kickboxing coach Ray Longo. Serra trained with the striking expert for nearly 20 years and credits much of his success to their many hours together.
A loving family man; he and his wife Ann have two beautiful daughters who are the pride of Serra’s life.
Krzysztof “The Polish Experiment” Soszyński
Krzysztof Soszyński, who joined Team XYIENCE in 2011, knows what it takes to become the ultimate athlete. While continuously working to reach his own goals as an athlete, he is also committed to helping others reach new levels of health and athleticism. In fact, it’s a mission that is quickly becoming his life’s work.
Today, he partners with athletes from a wide range of sports using his expertly designed KSOS Training System—a training and nutrition plan he created for professional and amateur athletes. Recently, Soszyński signed another deal with the UFC to be an MMA, kickboxing and strength and conditioning coach as well as a personal trainer at the UFC Gym located in the Los Angeles area.
A native of Poland, Soszyński moved to Canada with his family at the age of 10. A natural athlete, the once professional wrestler went on to play football and soccer at Maples Collegiate and then earned a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
A former Los Angeles Anaconda (IFL) team member, the mixed martial artist signed with the UFC after appearing on Season 8 of the reality television series “The Ultimate Fighter.” Victorious in his UFC debut against Shane Primm, whom he defeated by kimura, Soszyński was awarded Submission of the Night.
Soszyński has also taken his talents to the silver screen, having appeared in action roles for television series such as “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,” “S.F.C. – Cage Fighter,” and “Disarmed and Dangerous.”
Southern California native Mike Escamilla, who joined Team XYIENCE in 2012, is known for changing the face of BMX street riding. In competitions, he has broken the world records for the longest BMX back flip—measuring 62 feet, 2 inches—and the longest 360 performed on a BMX bike, both at the X-Games 11 in August 2005 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. He’s also no stranger to podium finishes—his competition results have spanned from winning first place in the 1996 ESPN X Trail Street Contest to a first-place finish in the ’98 Hard Trick Contest at the Goodwill Games.
Today, you can catch Escamilla at his “day job” on Fuel TV, where he co-hosts “Strangers in Danger” with BMX rider Zack “Catfish” Yankush. The pair travels the world, taking part in strange rituals and bizarre stunts, such as eating a live octopus, working as sewer divers in Mexico, and occasionally breaking bottles on their foreheads.
Amanda Corey is the 2008 winner of The CW’s hit reality television show “Beauty and the Geek.” She has appeared in national ad campaigns for brands such as 24-Hour Fitness and Hawaiian Tropic and in magazines such as Glamour and Seventeen. She joined Team XYIENCE in 2010 as the winner of the brand’s model search contest.
In addition to modeling, Corey is the CEO and Founder of Thrive Model Management, an Orange County–based agency. She is a huge fan of the UFC and also enjoys spending time with her husband and working out in her free time.
