Following the first fight on the main card at Affliction and M-1 Gobal’s “Day of Reckoning” event last night in Anaheim, California, UFC matchmaker, Joe Silva and UFC Interim Heavyweight Champion, Frank Mir made their way to their ringside seats.

M-1 Global USA Vice President, Jerry Millen, very publicly invited his nemesis, UFC President, Dana White to attend the “Day of Reckoning” event which took place on January 24th. Millen’s invitation came after White consistently denied M-1 Global’s prize fighter, Fedor Emelianenko, as the number one Heavyweight mixed martial artist in the world.

Following the bout between Dan Lauzon and Bobby Green PRO MMA (http://promma.info) reporter, Matt De La Rosa reports, “After the bout is over Interim UFC Heavyweight champion, Frank Mir makes his way to ringside being accompanied by UFC matchmaker, Joe Silva. ‘The Dean of Mean’ Keith Jardine is also in attendance.”

It is quite surprising the UFC sent Joe Silva to the Affliction event. The bad blood between Millen and White is well-documented. What could Silva’s motive be for attending the fights? Dana White has stated that he would love to have Fedor fight in the UFC but insists that it is the Russian’s management that is the problem.

Could White possibly be considering loosening the stipulations that have kept Fedor from signing with the UFC? In his last two fights he has knocked out two of the UFC’s greatest former Heavyweight Champions. Will White still insist Fedor is not the number one heavyweight in the world? Will White take the steps necessary to get Fedor inside the UFC Octagon? Only time will tell but it was probably a smart move on Joe Silva’s part to bring Frank Mir along as protection just in case things got out of hand.
