(Tampa, FL) Fresh off an exciting night of fights at XFC 14 in Orlando, FL the popular Southeastern promotion will be heading to the St. Pete Times Forum in Tampa for their next show, ‘Tribute’ that will air live on HDNet on December 2nd.
The main event will feature two of the top lightweights in the world when Eric Reynolds faces off against Jonatas Novaes.
Eric Reynolds (13-5) is best known by MMA fans for his run in the Bellator lightweight tournament in 2009. ‘It’s a Wrap’ earned his name because of his ability to finish fights quickly with submissions and knockout power.
All 13 career wins have been decisive finishes. All but one of those wins came in the first round. Reynolds wastes little time and will look to make it a quick night for his opponent at ‘Tribute’ on Dec. 2nd.
Like his opponent, Jonatas Novaes (9-3) is also a finisher, having finished four straight fights in the first round. Novaes is riding a four fight win streak in which he submitted UFC veteran Ryan Thomas in the first round back in May.
A black belt in Brazilian jiu jitsu, Novaes has literally fought all over the world having competed in the United States, Brazil, Finland, Scotland, and Italy. And on Dec. 2nd he will test his skills against Eric Reynolds in the XFC cage in Tampa, Florida.
“I’m really excited for the big lightweight showdown in Tampa,” explained XFC President John Prisco. “Eric Reynolds knows how to finish fights. All but one of his wins have come in the first round and I’m interested to see what he can do against someone like Jonatas Novaes. Novaes is the real deal and if the fight goes to the ground he will submit you. This could be the fight of the night or it could be a very quick fight with a memorable finish. Either way the fans are going to be treated to an exciting main event.”
