Bellator 86 takes place this evening from the WinStar World Casino in Thackerville, Okla. Ben Askren puts his welterweight title on the line against Karl “Psycho” Amoussou. In addition to the title fight there are five tournament bouts on the card including the Bellator debut of King Mo.
The first prelim fight kicks off at 8 p.m. ET and will stream live on Spike.com. The televised portion of the night will begin at 10 p.m. ET and will air live on Spike TV.
Bellator Fighting Championships is looking to continue their momentum after making their debut on Spike TV last week. On Thursday, Bellator 86 goes down at the WinStar World Casino in Thackerville, Okla. and features a title fight, the first round of the welterweight tournament and the debut of former Strikeforce champion Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal.
The Bellator 85 event which was the first LIVE Bellator event broadcast at their new home on Spike TV got off to a good start. The show averaged 938,000 viewers for the two hour event and peaked with a high of 1.2 million viewers.
Bellator 86 is set for January 24th and will be headlined by the welterweight title fight between Ben Askren and Karl Amoussou. Also, King Mo Lawal will make his Bellator debut against Przemyslaw Mysiala.
Five-time world champion Judo player Teddy Riner won Olympic gold today at ExCel Arena in London. Representing France, Riner had won four bronze medals in the Olympics in Beijing four years ago, but today he picked up the highest crown any Olympic athlete can achieve by besting three-time Russian world champion Alexander Mikhaylin on penalties in the heavyweight final.
