Claudia Gadelha
For the first time two 115 pound women graced the Octagon and they weren’t carrying the ring cards. Claudia Gadelha and Tina Lahdemaki  squared off in the first bout of UFC Fight Night 45.

The fight opened up with a touch of gloves and then Gadelha came forward throwing punches. She landed several left hooks to open up the round in the middle of the cage. When the fighters clinched for the first time Gadelha struck with some big knees and then got  Lahdemaki to the ground. Tina got up but was dumped once again. Gadelha was dominant on the ground  with big shots to a turtled up Lahdemaki and then a rear naked choke attempt. She cranked the neck of Tina hard as the round ended.

The second round started with much of the same. A left hook lands to the grill of Lahdemaki but she countered with a left of her own. A clinch from Gadelha lead to a big takedown. The fight stayed against the fence before an odd separation from the referee. Gadelha looked to lose some steam as the round ended.

The momentum shifted a bit to start the third. Lahdemaki seemed to be the fresher of the two fighters and landed some shots early. Just as you thought tides would turn, Gadelha went for and got a big take down. The round was mostly Gadelha grinding away but Lahdemaki wouldn’t give up. They both got to their feet and exchanged a couple strikes before Claudia landed a double leg just before the round ended.

The Invicta FC veteran Gadhela would win 30-26 and 30-27 x 2 on the judges scorecards. The biggest on the favorite didn’t disappoint but she didn’t exactly steam roll her opponent. While most of the signed strawweights are battling it out during The Ultimate Fighter 20, Gadehla has her first UFC win.
