The bantamweights Jessamyn Duke and Leslie Smith both were looking to bounce back after recent decision losses. It didn’t take long for “The Peacemaker” to establish her striking in the fight.
The first minute of round 1 was a feeling out process before Leslie Smith started to find her range. She picked her shots and started to wear on Duke. Duke caught a kick from Smith but couldn’t mount any offense. As the fight was pressed to the cage Leslie Smith unloaded with kicks and punches that dropped Duke forcing the referee to put an end to the assault.
Smith, who looked good at flyweight as well, gets her first UFC win. Duke has now dropped two in a row and may need a run through Invicta to sharpen up her game.
