Alexis Davis and Rosi Sexton battled over three full rounds in an exciting battle of attrition to determine which woman would earn their first UFC victory. Davis outlasted a very tough and resilient Sexton on her way to win via unanimous decision with scores of 29-28, 29-27, and 29-28.

Alexis Davis and Rosi Sexton wasted little time getting acquainted as they met in the middle of the cage and exchanged in the pocket. Davis then locked up a tight plum clinch and punished Sexton to the body with knees. After a restart, Sexton went for a takedown but ended up with Davis on her back. Sexton managed to scramble to top position, but ended up in a tight triangle choke in the process. Davis cinched up the choke but Sexton would not go away easily. Sexton fought back, landing right hands from the top, while managing to survive the submission attempt to the bell.

Sexton came out pressing to start the second, landing a right hand before clinching and putting Davis on the cage. Sexton got the takedown then went to work on the body of Davis. Davis scrambled from her back threatening to secure a leg, then proceeded to reverse from there. Davis landed some measured ground-and-pound from the top while Sexton worked to secure the posture of her opponent. As Sexton scrambled out of trouble, Davis took her back and immediately went for a rear naked choke. Sexton fended off the choke but ate a steady dose of punches from the top until the bell sounded.

Sexton came out with a sense of urgency to start the third, throwing caution to the wind as she marched forward. Davis fired back with punches straight down the middle before changing levels and shooting. Sexton stuffed the takedown, but Davis managed to pull guard, then once again took the back. Sexton managed to turn into Davis, ending up in top position. Sexton landed from the top with an alternating body-head attack as Davis scrambled to avoid damage. Davis spun out of trouble and rolled into the guard of Sexton with less than 30 seconds to go in the bout. Sexton threatened with upkicks as the bell sounded on a very exciting fight.

When the scorecards came back, it would be Alexis Davis (14-5 MMA, 1-0 UFC) that would earn her first UFC victory with scores of 29-28, 29-27, and 29-28.
