A new bout has been confirmed for the UFC 161 card as Dan Henderson (29-9) faces Rashad Evans (17-3-1) in a light heavyweight matchup. The event is set to take place at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Canada, on June 15.
UFC officials recently confirmed the bout and Henderson’s medical clearance.
UFC 161 does not yet have a headline bout, but is expected to have a main event fight confirmed very soon. The main card will air LIVE on PPV with the prelims expected to air on FX and Facebook.
Dan Henderson last fought at UFC 157 in February, where he dropped a decision loss against Lyoto Machida. Prior to that he had been on a four fight winning streak, defeating notable fighters such as Renato Sobral, Rafael Cavalcante, Fedor Emelianenko and Maurício Rua during 2010/2011. Henderson has the chance to bounce back into the win column with a big win over Evans.
Rashad Evans is currently on a two fight losing streak, most recently dropping a unanimous decision loss against Antônio Rogério Nogueira at UFC 156 in February. Prior to that he suffered a unanimous decision loss to UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones at UFC 145 in April 2012. Evans needs a win and will no doubt look to put in a good performance against Henderson on June 15.
