All of the UFC 153 fighters that were given drug tests passed except two, Stephan Bonnar and Dave Herman. Bonnar tested positive for Drostanolone, which is an anabolic steroid. Herman tested positive for marijuana metabolites.
This is the second time that Bonnar has tested positive for steroids as he was caught using Boldenone in 2006 after his rematch with Forrest Griffin at UFC 62.
Bonnar and Herman were on the losing ends of their fights at UFC 153. Bonnar was finished via TKO from a knee to the body by Anderson Silva. Herman was submitted by MMA legend Antonio Rodrigo Nogueria in the second round of their bout. Bonnar quietly announced his retirement earlier this week.
The loss for Herman was his third consecutive loss in the UFC, and coupled with this failed drug test it’s likely that he will not be with the promotion going forward.
