Bellator has added a new fighter to their growing roster of talent with the latest addition being welterweight fighter Marcus ‘Lelo’ Aurelio (6-1).

Marcus will join the likes of current champ Ben Askren, Douglas Lima, Karl Amoussou, Bryan Baker, and Ben Sanders in the Bellator welterweight division. Lelo will make his debut at Bellator 73 against an opponent that will be named at a later date.

Bellator 73 takes place on August 25th at the Harrah’s Tunica Hotel and Casino in Tunica, Miss. The event will feature a headline bout between current Bellator featherweight champ Pat Curran and Patricio “Pitbull” Friere for the title.

Here is what Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney had to say about the new signing:

“Marcus is an absolute explosive anomaly in our sport,” he also said “If you have never seen him fight, you are missing something totally unique and special. Marcus brings a completely unique style and confidence to the cage that I’ve never seen before. It will be great to see how his explosive Capoeira translates in the Bellator cage.”

Aurelio will enter Bellator riding a six fight winning streak, with five of those victories coming by knockout. The 26-year-old was last in action against Matt Dwyer at Battlefield Fight League 15 where he scored an impressive KO within just 30 seconds of the first round.

Here is what Marcus “Lelo” Aurelio had to say about joining Bellator:

“I feel that my style of fighting is very dynamic and explosive,” said Aurelio. “I certainly don’t enter the cage to win on points. It’s instinct for me, I’m always looking to finish my opponent. I think it’s exciting for the fans.” He also said “Of course my ultimate goal in Bellator is to become a champion, but I’m not looking past my next opponent,” Aurelio added. “I’m thrilled to showcase what I’m capable of in August for Bellator.”
