The Bellator Fighting Championships promotion continues to sign up and coming talent to its roster. It was announced today that the promotion has signed Brazilian bantamweight Rafael Silva. Silva (17-3) has fought almost exclusively in his native country Brazil and has won 16 of his last 17 fights dating back to 2009 while winning 13 of those fights via stoppage.

Silva is a member of Team Renovacao and currently trains with Bellator fighters Maiquel Falcao, Ricardo Tirloni, Genair da Silva, and Luis Nogueira. Here are Silva’s thoughts on signing with the Bellator promotion:

“Signing with Bellator is by far the best thing that ever happened to me,” Silva said. “It’s a chance of showing the world what I can do inside the cage. My manager always tells me how great of an atmosphere Bellator has and I can’t wait to be part of it.”

Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney seems to be pretty excited to bring Silva into the Bellator fold:

“Marcelo Brigadeiro’s RFT is developing a spectacular group of Brazilian fighters,” said Bellator Chairman & CEO Bjorn Rebney. “Rafael joins Big Rig, Ricardo, Genair and Luis who are all further establishing Luta Livre’s position in the MMA world.”

It’s not clear win Silva will make his Bellator debut, but be sure to stay close to ProMMAnow (www.prommanow.com) for future updates on the exciting prospect.
