Roy “Big Country” Nelson took time out following his open workout Wednesday at the MGM Grand to talk with ProMMAnow.com (www.prommanow.com) and other members of the media. Nelson gave his thoughts on the UFC 146 main event match-up between Frank Mir and Junior Dos Santos and clearly picked “Cigano” as the favorite to win.

Nelson weighed in on steroids in MMA and said he wants to have his next opponent go through random testing even if he has to pay for it himself. Nelson said he would fight the opponent either way, but if they decline to be tested, he feels it would just prove they are guilty.

Nelson also discussed potentially dropping to light heavyweight, and if people wanted to see him there he would drop the weight even if he had to “cut a leg off”. Nelson said he was disheartened when he first found out his original opponent Gabriel Gonzaga had to withdraw due to injury, but is glad Dave Herman stepped up on short notice and considers him a great fighter and a veteran with an impressive record.
