SportFight X, one of the top MMA promotions in the Southeast, proudly presents “Middle Tennessee Mayhem” on Saturday, January 29th, live from the Murphy Center on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, TN. SportFight X has scheduled more than 10 action-packed bouts, including a heavyweight attraction between Scott Barrett (10-2), and UFC veteran Mike Wessel (10-3).

A classic striker versus grappler match-up, the co-main event features the two of the southeast’s best heavyweights. This exciting heavyweight bout is also one of the most anticipated SportFight X bouts in the history of the promotion.

Mike Wessel may be remembered for his stint on the hit UFC reality show “The Ultimate Fighter” but Wessel was already a UFC veteran before appearing on the show. At UFC 92 Wessel took a fight with Antoni Hardonk on a few days notice. Wessel easily dominated Hardonk winning the first round but eventually came up short in the second losing in his debut for the company. Now with a solid camp at Memphis BJJ behind him Wessel is on a two fight win streak. Both fights where first round TKO wins. If Wessel
can make it three in a row at “Middle Tennessee Mayhem” he could find himself on the road to MMA superstardom.

But Scott Barrett is standing in his way looking to derail Wessel and get back to his winning ways. Fueled by a controversial decision loss to Damian Grabowski at Bellator 25, Barrett is eager to get his career back on track. Before the controversial loss in August Barrett was on a roll winning four straight fights by TKO. Now with the bad taste of a loss in his mouth you can look for “Bear” to try to take Wessel down and grind him out.

SportFight X President Adam Gibbs is excited to have the two talented heavyweights competing at “Middle Tennessee Mayhem”. “This is going to be a heck of a fight”, exclaims Gibbs. “These two big ol’ boys are going to bring it. I know Wessel has excellent hands but he also has an underrated ground game as well. Barrett may look to take him down but he could be playing into Wessel’s hands. I’m really excited and I can’t wait to see how it shakes out. The UFC and Strikeforce have both been to Nashville but this fight is the biggest heavyweight fight to ever hit Middle Tennessee.”

In addition to Wessel vs. Barrett, in a battle of Tennessee’s best lightweights Union City’s Zach Underwood will take on Knoxville’s Matt Traylor in the main event. Also Ultimate Fighter alum and VH1’s Daisy of Love star Jeremiah Riggs will be in action.

Tickets are on sale now at Ticketmaster.com.
