Kansas City, KS — The Titan Fighting Championship (www.TitanFighting.com) announced today that IFL, Affliction, and WEC veteran L.C. Davis has signed to compete at Titan Fighting Championship 16 to be held on Friday, January 28 and airing live nationally on HDNet (www.HD.net).

Davis, 16-4, Titan’s last reigning featherweight champion, will take on Jared Downing in a featherweight clash.

The 30-year old Davis is a native of Kansas City, Missouri and after spending significant time training in Bettendorf, Iowa under the guidance of legendary MMA trainer Pat Miletich, recently moved back home. He is one of the area’s most popular fighters and is eager to make his homecoming appearance.

“It means a lot to get to come home and fight in front of all my family and friends,” said an excited Davis. “I’m really thankful that Titan is giving me the opportunity to compete in my hometown. I’m looking forward to showcasing my talents on Jan. 28.”

Davis holds notable victories in his career over Conor Heun, Rafael Dias, Bao Quach, Diego Nunes, Javier Vazquez, and Deividas Taurosevicius. His last fight for Titan was in July of 2007, where he recorded a first round TKO against Dan Sullivan at Titan Fighting Championship 8.

Looking to spoil Davis’ welcome home party is Downing, who is undefeated at 5-0 and a fighter that industry insiders consider to be one of the fastest rising prospects in both the bantamweight and featherweight divisions.

The Iowa native holds notable career victories over Chad Vandenberg, Ramiro Hernandez Jr., and one-time Bellator Fighting Championships bantamweight tournament competitor Danny Tims.

“Jared is one of the strongest fighters you will encounter in the lighter weight divisions. He’s fought twice for Bellator and has looked dominant against strong competition,” said Titan Fighting Championship CEO Joe Kelly. “L.C. has fought at the highest level of MMA and has designs on returning. Jared is being looked at by numerous organizations right now. There is a lot on the line for both fighters.”

Davis vs. Downing will be featured during the national televised broadcast of Titan Fighting Championship 16 on Jan. 28 starting at 10:00 p.m. ET/9:00 p.m. CT with the local undercard starting at 8:00 p.m. ET/7:00 p.m. CT. Tickets for the event, which will emanate from the historic Memorial Hall (www.MemorialHallKC.com), are currently on-sale at Ticketmaster.com, all local Ticketmaster outlets, and the Memorial Hall box office.

In addition to Davis vs. Downing, other announced fights include a two-time UFC heavyweight champion Tim “The Maineiac” Sylvia taking on TUF 10 veteran Abe Wagner in a heavyweight encounter; hard hitting middleweights Drew McFedries and Gary Tapasua; and “The Kansas City Bandit” Jason High vs. Rudy “Bad News” Bears in a battle to determine Kansas City’s number one welterweight.
