(PRESS RELEASE) – PRO MMA (promma.info) is proud to announce “The Ultimate Fighter 10: Heavyweights” cast member Justin Wren will be writing a weekly blog for the popular MMA news site sharing his thoughts on each episode of this season’s SPIKE TV reality series.

Justin’s introductory blog will begin on Wed., Sept. 9, 2009, which is one week prior to the TUF 10 debut on Sept. 16.

Justin attended high school in Texas, and although he was the school’s only wrestler, he ended up winning the State Championship.

His junior and senior year he transferred to Bishop Lynch in Dallas which had two Olympic Gold Medalist coaches. It was there Justin went on to win 10 State Championships (4 Greco Roman, 3 Freestyle, 3 Folkstyle), become a five time All American, and a two time National Champion.

It was then he was approached by the developmental coaches of the U.S. Olympic Greco Roman Team. Granted this unique opportunity, Justin decided to skip collegiate wrestling, move to the United States Olympic Education Center, and pursue his dreams of going to the Olympics.

He competed internationally until getting injured in a match with the 2002 Greco World Champion, which ultimately ended in surgery. During his layoff time from competition he moved to Ames, Iowa with the intent to wrestle under Cael Sanderson for Iowa State University on scholarship.

There he began to enter some smaller pro MMA shows to stay active. After some success in the cage, Justin got the MMA bug, decided not to take his scholarship, and instead chose to pursue a career in mixed martial arts.

Aside from his lone loss two years ago, Justin has finished every opponent he has faced within two rounds. With a professional record of 10-1, he has won eight fights by knockout and two by submission.

Now 22-years-old, we find Justin on “The Ultimate Fighter 10: Heavyweights,” ready to face some of the sport’s toughest  giants, all aiming for the highly coveted six-figure UFC contract.

When PRO MMA (promma.info) first interviewed Justin Wren in July 2008, their Editor Jack Bratcher wrote these prophetic words in the introduction:

“From the first time I saw some of Justin’s Youtube wrestling videos and heard that he was now entering into the MMA world, I knew that this would be a guy we would one day hear about.  Justin has been paying his dues the old-fashioned way; by getting in the cage and going toe-to-toe with the biggest men in the sport.  If you haven’t yet heard of Justin Wren I want you to make a mental note of that name and remember where you first heard it.“

Justin also had some prophetic words in that interview. He was asked, “Is there any fighters out there you would love to fight?” Justin said, “By far, Kimbo Slice.”

Most UFC fans know by now that Kimbo is on “The Ultimate Fighter 10: Heavyweights” along with Justin. They are in the house together — Justin has wanted to fight him for a long time. You better tune in to find out what happens! And be sure to read Justin Wren’s blog each week at http://promma.info to hear his thoughts on each episode.

Mark your calendars now — Justin Wren’s official TUF 10 blog starts on Sept. 9 and the debut episode of “The Ultimate Fighter 10: Heavyweights” airs on SPIKE TV Sept. 16.
