Roger Huerta apparently will not be locked into the UFC for five more fights. According to Sherdog.com, “El Matador” turned down a five fight contract in order to pursue other career ventures. The career: acting.

It had been originally reported, in early December, that the 25 year old lightweight had in fact signed a contract extension with the UFC.

While the latest news does not specify if he had indeed signed that contract or found a way out of it, Huerta appears content to try out his acting chops.

Huerta stated that he had no desire to talk to any other promotion while taking a break from fighting.

The UFC is my home and it is my family and eventually I’ll come back.

The reasons for not signing the extension appear to center around scheduling conflicts that would occur regarding movies and fighting. Huerta will fight once more for the ZUFFA LC promotion before the year ends, however, no date has been set.
