I know we were all hoping for Gina Carano to make an instant comeback from her loss to Cris Cyborg; but as my momma always says, “You can want in one hand and crap in the other and see which one fills up faster.”

What does this mean? It means Gina will not be in the cage for quite awhile. Instead, she has signed a deal to star in Steven Soderbergh’s newest flick Knockout. With plans to begin production in late January and filming to take place in Ireland, Turkey, and the US, Gina will be pretty tied up for the next year and a half.

PRO MMA caught up with Roger “El Matador” Huerta to discuss the latest news regarding his contract with the UFC. The Lightweight star was very confident and determined about his decision, he cleared the air about reports stating he had signed a 5 fight extension, as well as making it clear that he will continue to train as a professional fighter.

PRO MMA: Roger, thank you for joining us today.
HUERTA: No problem.

PRO MMA: It had been originally reported back in early December that you did indeed sign the five fight contract extension. Your manager (Jeff Clark) told me that you did have the contract and had the intent to sign it, but had a change of heart over the holidays. Is that true?

Roger Huerta turns down UFC

Roger Huerta apparently will not be locked into the UFC for five more fights. According to Sherdog.com, “El Matador” turned down a five fight contract in order to pursue other career ventures. The career: acting.

It had been originally reported, in early December, that the 25 year old lightweight had in fact signed a contract extension with the UFC.

While the latest news does not specify if he had indeed signed that contract or found a way out of it, Huerta appears content to try out his acting chops.

Kimbo Slice makes acting debut…on Nickelodeon

He goes from “street-fighting legend” to MMA superstar to….

starring on a Nickelodeon Christmas Special of course. Come on, anyone could have guessed that. It’s true. Kevin Ferguson a.k.a. Kimbo Slice will be making his acting debut starring in “Merry Christmas, Drake & Josh” which premieres on December 5th at 8 pm ET/7 pm CT.

Kimbo will be playing the character “Bludge,” a bully character that “Keeps the audience on their toes. You don’t know whether he’s going to smash somebody or if he’s going to give you a hug and a kiss.”

One of Kimbo’s child co-stars says, “Kimbo is like a great big muscle bound Teddy Bear.” Another one says, “He has been nothing but nice, professional, and really fun to work with.”
