Dave Huckaba responds after being stripped of Gladiator Challenge Heavyweight Title

Dave Huckaba feels he is the true Gladiator Challenge Heavyweight Champion.

As PROMMA.INFO reported on Monday, California-based MMA promotion Gladiator Challenge stripped their heavyweight champion Dave Huckaba of his title citing “failure to honor his contract agreement.”

Huckaba was scheduled to defend his title against MMA legend Dan Severn on Aug. 22. According to Huckaba, he notified the promotion ahead of time he was injured. “I was hurt. I tried to tell Tedd (Gladiator Challenge owner Tedd Williams) two weeks before but he didn’t want to hear it,” Huckaba explained.

Gladiator Challenge strips heavyweight champion Dave Huckaba of title – again

Gladiator Challenge Heavyweight Champion Dave Huckaba was scheduled to defend his title against MMA legend and pioneer Dan Severn on Aug. 22, 2009 at “Nemesis” at the Konocti Vista Casino in Lakeland, Calif. Huckaba did not fight.

PROMMA.INFO has been notified that Gladiator Challenge has made the decision to strip the two-time heavyweight champion of the title for failure to honor his contract agreement.

Gladiator Challenge Owner/Promoter Tedd Williams stated, “In order to be fair to both the fans and the other Gladiator Challenge heavyweight contenders, we have made the difficult decision to once again take the title away from Mr. Huckaba. We are sad to see it come to this, but we feel that our hand has been forced. We hope that, in time, this situation will be resolved in a more favorable manner.”

Jake “The Snake” Paul takes home Gladiator Challenge Welterweight Title at “Gold Rush”

Gladiator Challenge’s “Gold Rush” took place on Sat., June 13, 2009 at the Wendover Nugget Hotel & Casino in Wendover, Nev.

The Gladiator Challenge Welterweight Title was on the line in the main event as Jake “The Snake” Paul (13-13) defeated Lee Doss (12-9) via TKO in round 2.

In the co-main event, ex-training partner of former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Rashad Evans, “Coach” Chris McLeod of the High Desert Hitmen out of Elko, Nev., handily defeated newcomer Andy Medina with a first round knockout.

Gabe Ruediger headlines Gladiator Challenge: Warriors on Wed., Feb. 4 in San Diego

Everyone’s favorite cake-eater from The Ultimate Fighter season 5, Gabe “Godzilla” Ruediger (11-5) will be fighting Nick “The Italian Stallion” Realle in the main event at GLADIATOR CHALLENGE: WARRIORS which takes place Wednesday, February 4, at the Casino Pauma in San Diego.

Nick Realle is coming off a dominating performance over Brad Ball at Gladiator Challenge: Revolution back in January while Ruediger is coming off two straight losses. Reudiger thinks he came back too soon from an injury in his last fight, was not fully prepared and considers this his “real” comeback as he tries to get on the winning side of things.

Also featured at “WARRIORS” will be a Gladiator Challenge Featherweight Title fight between the always-tough Darryl Montague and Robbie Peralta. Heavyweights, David Diaz and Jaime Sanders will lock horns, and well-known veteran William “The Bull” Sriyapai will take on George Sanchez in a welterweight bout. There are 14 fights scheduled for this event.
