“TUF 9 Finale” prelims

The “TUF 9 Finale” took place Saturday night at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nev. There were a number of preliminary fights not shown on Spike TV, including four fighters from “The Ultimate Fighter: U.S. vs. U.K.”

With two submissions and one TKO, the preliminary fights actually had more finishes than the main card. Four of the five fights on the main card went to the judges for decision.

The most controversial decision of the night had to be Melvin Guillard’s split decision win over Gleison Tibau. While Guillard seemed to have the advantage on the feet and landed some good shots, Tibau repeatedly took him to the ground, maintained more control, and dealt out some ground and pound. However, there is the old saying, “If you let it go to the judges, there is no one to blame but yourself.”

“Rumble on the Ridge III: Mayhem” sets the bar high in Washington

As MMA shows go, most promotions are fairly similar. There are slight differences like the use of a ring or a cage, elbows or no elbows, amateur, pro, or mixed (pro and am) shows. Aside from from these minor details, the majority of smaller MMA promotions put on entertaining yet cookie-cutter shows which mirror all the others. “Rumble on the Ridge III: Mayhem” however, was quite the opposite.

On Saturday May 16th, at the Snoqualmie Casino Ballroom in Snoqualmie, Washington, Rumble on the Ridge MMA held their third show, “Rumble on the Ridge III: Mayhem”, which was nothing less than top-notch. From the superb matchmaking to the seamless production of the entire event, the show was exciting and entertaining from beginning to end. All of the other MMA promotions in the Pacific Northwest should take notes, as Rumble on the Ridge is definitely setting the standard.

PRO MMA (promma.info) was cage side for the action-packed ten fight card which showcased seven amateur and three professional bouts. With the fights ending in knockout, TKO, decisions, a draw, and a variety of submissions, this card was a pleasure to even the most die-hard MMA fans.
