MMA PPV buys have always been a crap shoot in terms of predicting the final numbers. 2013 sure had its share of ups and downs, too. This year proved that being a champion still doesn’t equal big numbers like in the case of UFC 163 Aldo vs. Jung. That PPV did an abysmal 170,000 buys. UFC 165 Jones. Gustafsson, did 270,000 buys and Jones is one of the UFC’s most high profile athletes.
2013 saw a total buyrate of 5,080,000 buys at roughly $44.95 a pop for a total of about $228, 346,00. Not a bad haul for a year with an unlucky number in it. With Chris Weidman vs. Anderson Silva II later this month expected to do close to 1,000,000 buys the UFC could pull in another $49,000,000 at a PPV price of $49. The complete list is below.
