UFC officials have announced a dynamite lightweight matchup for UFC 169 that’s set to take place on February 1, in Newark, New Jersey. Bobby Green will take on Abel Trujillo in a fight of promising lightweights eager to reach the upper echelon of a stacked lightweight division.

Green (22-5) is coming off arguably his biggest win in his last fight against Pat Healy at the UFC on FOX 9 event. Green won the bout via unanimous decision which was his seventh consecutive victory, pushing his UFC record to (3-0).

Trujillo (11-5, 1NC) is coming off a second round TKO win over Roger Bowling in his last outing at UFC on FOX 9. It was Trujillo’s second win inside the octagon and also his second time fighting Bowling after their previous matchup ended in a no contest in August. Trujillo has been on a tear going (6-1, 1NC) since August 2011.

The UFC 169 event will be headlined by the UFC bantamweight title fight between champ Dominick Cruz and interim champion Renan Barao. Cruz will be returning to action for the first time in two years after recovering from a devastating knee injury. The co-main event will consist of another title fight when UFC featherweight kingpin Jose Aldo looks to defend his title against Ricardo Lamas.

UFC 169 will take place at the Prudential Center.
