rashad evansUFC officials have announced the co-main event fight for UFC 167 which is slated to take place on November 16 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Former UFC light heavyweight champion “Suga” Rashad Evans will step back into the cage to take on former middleweight number one contender Chael Sonnen.

The UFC 167 main event will feature the UFC welterweight title fight between champion Georges St. Pierre and challenger Johny Hendricks.

Evans is coming off a split decision win over Dan Henderson in his last outing at UFC 157. The former champion was coming off back-to-back losses, including his title fight loss against former training partner Jon Jones at UFC 145 in April 2012.

Sonnen (29-13-1) is coming off a first round submission win over former UFC light heavyweight champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua in his last outing in last month. It was his first bout since his first round TKO loss to Jon Jones at UFC 159, which was also his second consecutive loss following his second round TKO loss to then middleweight champion Anderson Silva.

The UFC 167 card thus far is below:

  • Georges St. Pierre vs. Johny HendricksĀ 
  • Rashad Evans vs. Chael Sonnen
  • Rory MacDonald vs. Robbie Lawler
  • Josh Koscheck vs. Tyron Woodley
