If you think Floyd Mayweather Jr or any sane boxer is going to fight a Khabib Nurmagomedov level fighter in The Octagon we want some of what you are smoking.

The UFC lightweight champion recently made an offer to undefeated boxing record holder Floyd Mayweather Jr that has zero chance of being accepted. After much back and forth and dollar signs in Floyd’s eyes the talk died and is flaring back up yet again. Here is what Khabib said about the talk (via TMZ)…

If you wanna fight, come to the UFC… This is real fight. I’m not boxer, I’m not just wrestler, I am MMA fighter. If interested, maybe we can make something like – my father talk about this before – like maybe eleven rounds box, one round MMA. Like eleven rounds three minute box. And the last round: five minutes MMA. If he makes this deal, I can fight. I don’t think he can knock me out in eleven rounds. And what’s he going to do last round? Five minutes with me, I’m gonna take him down, I’m going to maul this guy. What’s he going to do?

Stepping in to the cage against Nurmagomedov is not something Floyd would ever do. There is 100% no way that Mayweather would risk that potential embarrassment and 110% no way the boxing world would ever allow him to. Boxers have the luxury of luring MMA fighters with the promise of big money in to a ring with rules that strip all of the techniques that make them so good in a cage. It’s the one thing that boxing can hold over MMA when a guy like Conor McGregor makes the jump for the cheddar. One of the UFC’s best getting beaten by one of boxing’s best so they can say, “See? MMA fighters can’t hang with us.”

It needs to stop.

Unless…

If Floyd Mayweather gets full of himself enough to fight Khabib even for one round in a cage it will almost certainly end badly for ‘Money’ – as long as it’s MMA rules.

Then again this could happen…
