bellator149Hmmmm. So. Ken Shamrock and Royce Gracie are fighting tonight and no, it’s not 1993. The two middle-aged MMA veterans will go head-to-head in a Masters division main event matchup at Bellator 149 taking place this evening from the Toyota Center in Houston.

The main card will broadcast live on Spike, with prelims streaming on Spike.com. And per usual we’ll have your live results and round-by-round updates right here. Preliminary card action kicks off at 6:30 p.m. ET with main card action starting at 9 p.m. ET.

Bellator 149 round-by-round updates:

Emmanuel Sanchez vs. Daniel Pineda

Round 1 – Pineda 10-9.

Round 2 – Sanchez starts strong, landing punches and putting Pineda on his back. But Pineda is able to get a reversal and work from top until they are stood up. Pineda with a cartwheel kick but ends up on his back. Pineda goes for a leg and this creates the scramble to get up. Takedown from Pineda before the bell. 10-9 Sanchez.

Round 3 – Pineda’s face is busted up pretty badly and he’s having trouble seeing out of his right eye. Some exciting scrambles this round but it’s all Sanchez. 10-9 Sanchez.

Emanuel Newton vs. Linton Vassell

Round 1 – Vassell takes round one by most accounts.

Round 2 – Vassell takes a knee to the groin that brings him to his knees and timeout is called. He’s back at it and the ref has taken a point from Newton.

Round 3 – Vassell spends the last minute or so in full mount and will likely take it.

Melvin Guillard vs. Derek Campos

Round 1 – Guillard comes out for the kill but gets wobbled with punches and put on his back. Campos works the ground and pound from top. Guillard works his way to his feet and is finding success with his right. He takes a couple shots trying to set up a Thai clinch. Campos just ducks a high kick. 10-9 Campos.

Round 2 – Campos backs Guillard to the cage and fires off punches until several connect and Guillard finally crumples to the canvas. Mike Tyson was on commentary for this fight, he may or may not have been hitting the hooch and it was pretty awesome.

Kimbo Slice vs. Dada 5000

Round 1 – Kimbo with a takedown as Dada rushes him. Kimbo gets to full mount. Kimbo repping American Top Team on his shorts. Dada just tying him up looking for the standup. Body shots from Kimbo. Dada still just hanging on and we have a stalemate. Ref warns them. Dada takes Kimbo down via trip. But Kimbo is up. Dada looking for the neck briefly. They tie up against the cage, Kimbo’s back to the fence. Foot stomp from Dada. Kimbo looking gassed already. Dada comes in winging punches right in Kimbo’s face. They square up now, both guys boxing, nothing too significant landing but both connecting. Kimbo pushes him to the cage and Dada takes a deep breath as they break. Overhand right from Kimbo. Haha this has been a fun fight actually. Not bad to be honest. Kimbo 10-9.

Round 2 – Big John warns Dada about coming out to soon and threatens to take a point. They start banging now. Both connecting. Kimbo with a right hook, he pushes Dada to the cage and then lifts him up for a takedown. Ground and pound from Kimbo and he lets Dada up. Body shots from Kimbo, pushes Dada to the cage. Another takedown from Kimbo. Dada just holding on and they get stood up. Dada very slow to get up. Kimbo lights him up but still coming forward. He gets rocked again, but presses Kimbo to the cage. They are both gassed to the limit. Please don’t die guys. Dada presses Kimbo to the cage, and Kimbo just drops to his knees but somehow ends up on top in full mount. LOL. This is entertaining. Ref stands them up from full mount. Wow. Dada calls Kimbo on. They both score before the bell. 10-9 Kimbo.

Round 3 – Both fighters have to be helped off the stool. Dada lights him up early and Kimbo looks out on his feet but somehow fires back and connects. They tie up and rest for a moment then it’s back at it with Rock em’ Sock em’ Robots.

Ken Shamrock vs. Royce Gracie

Round 1 – Royce throwing kicks as they feel each other out on the feet. Boos have already started after a minute or so. Leg kicks from Royce. Ken with a couple rights then backs up. Knees in the clinch, Royce gets the takedown and hammerfists Shamrock in the face until the ref stops it. Shamrock claiming he hit him with a low blow. And replay confirms. Man, that sucks. Always some controversy surrounding Shamrock is there not? And Royce too for that matter. Ah the fight game. See ya next time kids.
