The UFC on FOX 17 event just got a lot bigger when former UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos takes on Alistair Overeem in the co-main event. The two fighters have been trading verbal barbs for the past couple of years and were originally supposed to fight at UFC 160 in 2012 and 2013, but Overeem was pulled from the initial bout after having elevated testosterone levels.

The UFC on FOX 17 event will be headlined by the UFC lightweight title fight between champion Rafael dos Anjos and challenger Donald Cerrone. The event will take place at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida, on December 19.

Dos Santos (17-3) is coming off a unanimous decision win over Stipe Miocic in December 2014. He is (2-2) in his last four fights with both losses coming against Cain Velasquez.

Overeem (39-14, 1NC) is coming off a unanimous decision win over Roy Nelson in his last outing at UFC 185. Overeem has won three of his last four bouts with the lone loss coming against the surging Ben Rothwell.

The tentative UFC on FOX 17 fight card is below:

  • Rafael dos Anjos vs. Donald Cerrone
  • Junior dos Santos vs. Alistair Overeem
  • Michael Johnson vs. Nate Diaz
  • C.B. Dolloway vs. Nate Marquardt
  • Josh Samman vs. Tamden McCrory
  • Nik Lentz vs. Danny Castillo
