UFC officials have announced that the first ever UFC women’s strawweight champion Carla Esparza will defend her title against undefeated Joanna Jedrzejczyk in the UFC 185 co-main event. The even will be headlined by the UFC lightweight title fight between champion Anthony Pettis and challenger Rafael dos Anjos.
The event will take place at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.
Esparza (10-2) defeated Rose Namajunes in the TUF finals to become the inaugural UFC women’s strawweight champion. Esparza was the Invicta FC strawweight women’s champion before appearing on the reality show and winning it all. She has won five consecutive fights since her last loss in 2011.
Jedrzejczyk (8-0) is coming off a split decision win over the previous undefeated Claudia Gadelha in December. Jedrzejczyk competed primarily in Poland and Russia before making her UFC debut in July 2014.
