pedro munhoz - wolfman
Two week, no problem. This seems to be a recurring theme of late as fighters are forced off cards with injuries and a replacement is signed to fill in on short notice. It’s the dream though right. Yet again another Resurrection Fighting Alliance champion has gotten the call up to the UFC. RFA bantamweight champ Pedro Munhoz (10-0) has landed a contract and a fight in about two weeks.

Multiple outlets are reporting that Munhoz will replace injured Francisco Rivera at UFC 170 in a bantamweight fight against Raphael Assuncao. Assuncao had made some noise stating that he wanted the champ Renan Barao following the news of Rivera’s injury. The Brazilian is riding a five fight winning streak and is undefeated since moving to the 135 pound division.

The Blackhouse prospect Munhoz was impressive in his first title defense last month. He finished undefeated Billy Daniels in less than a minute in Los Angeles. He captured the title with a win over UFC vet Jeff Curran. He can be dangerous on the ground as six of his 10 wins have come by way of submission.

UFC 170 will take place on February 22nd at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. Stay close to ProMMAnow (www.prommanow.com) for your coverage of this event. Here is a look at the fight card as it stands.
