In January Gina Begley joined the team at ProMMAnow (www.prommanow.com) to host ProWMMA Now! and bring a female outlook to the world of mixed martial arts. So far she and co-host Emily Bartee have talked to a who’s who of sorts in the area of women’s MMA. This Saturday Gina will switch gears and get back into the cage herself.
Begley travels to St. Louis this Saturday and takes her 3-2 record with her to face and undefeated Hannah McNitt at Warriors for Heroes : MMA vs. PTSD. McNitt is the local star who has jumped out to a perfect record in her first three outings. Begley is looking to erase an August 3rd loss in Ohio.
McNitt comes into the fight a winning all three fights by way of first round stoppage.
All three wins for Begley have come by way of submission. Earlier this year Begley traveled to Colorado to face Shannon Sinn in which she walked away with a second round win at RFA 7. She also scored a first round knockout this year at a thai boxing tournament in Iowa.
You hear Gina every Monday night, she has her MMA resume but she is a bit more dynamic. Begley is set to graduate this December from Eastern Kentucky University with a degree in fitness and wellness management. She has juggled being a student all the while training consistently at AFS Academy in Richmond, Kentucky. Gina is also a single mother of a nine year old son Chris. Chris can be found right alongside Gina in the gym and sharpening his skills. He has already been successful winning competitions around the Ohio Valley region.
With five fights into her career, this will be the first title fight for Begley. The flyweight bout with McNitt is also the amateur main event. Warriors for Heroes: MMA vs. PTSD takes place at the Chaifetz Arena and is a charity event.
