UFN_28_event_posterUFC Fight Night 28 takes place today at Mineirinho Arena in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil and will air LIVE on FOX Sports 1 following a single preliminary-card bout on Facebook.

A light heavyweight match-up between two top-10 ranked 205-pounders Ryan Bader and Glover Teixeira headlines UFC Fight Night 28, while top-10 middleweights Yushin Okami and Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza clash in the co-headliner.

Body shot and leg kick from Jorge. Front headlock from Wisniewski. Jorge goes for a leg but can’t hold it. Nice left jab from Wisniewski. Leg kick Jorge. Body shot from Jorge, leg kick, clinch. Right hook from Jorge. Thai plum and knee to body from Wisniewski. Jorge shoots, stuffed, he presses Wisniewski to the cage. Knee from Wisniewski on the break. Leg kick Jorge. Knee from Wisniewski. Leg kick Jorge. Again. They trade punches. Front headlock, knee from Wisniewski. Jorge shoots again, and it’s stuffed yet again. 90 seconds left. Jorge really looking for the takedown, no dice. Big knee to the body from Wisniewski. One two from Jorge to the body. One two from Wisniewski. Body, head punch combo, followed by a leg kick from Jorge. Wisniewski counters with strikes of his own. Pretty close round. I’d probably lean toward Wisniewski 10-9.

Round 2 – Nice left hook/right leg kick combo from Jorge to start the round, he shoots. Big elbow to the body from Wisniewski. Jorge gets Wisniewski to his butt, but can’t hold him there. Wisniewski to his feet, Jorge with a body lock from the back, one hook in while standing. Kind of a stale mate as the crowd boos. Right hand from Jorge, Wisniewski blocks the next attempt. Ref wants action. Front body lock now from Jorge. Gives a couple knees. Ref separates them. Big body kick, Thai plum and knee to face stuns Jorge. Wisniewski lands a right hand as Jorge retreats. Leg kick from Jorge. Wisniewski backs him to the cage as Jorge puts one hand on the ground and eats punches. He shoots for Wisniewski’s leg and gets him down. Wisniewski right back up as Jorge expends a ton of energy here trying to continue to get the takedown. They reset on the feet and Wisniewski lights him up with punches, presses him to the cage and gives him some body shots before the bell. PMN sees it 10-9 Wisniewski.

Round 3 – Funny GSP Nos commercial just aired. “Buy it with your money,” says the champ. Leg kick from Jorge. Again. Wisniewski stalks, clinch, knees from Jorge. One two combo. Punch, body kick counter from Wisniewski. One two follows from Wisniewski. Leg kick Jorge. Jab from Jorge, Thai plum and knees to the body from Jorge, three nice ones. Both of them playing the plum game. Leg kick Jorge. More knees from Jorge. Jorge with another knee as he presses Wisniewski to the cage. Another knee. Ref separates them. Wisniewski appears hurt, complains of a low blow. Jorge with a Thai plum and more knees to the body pressing Wisniewski to the cage. More knees, right and left. Wisniewski has slowed down quite a bit. Body shots from Jorge now. Knee from Wisniewski. Another big knee from Jorge, body shots. Ref separates them for some reason. Thai plum and knees from Jorge, he puts him right back against the cage. Wisniewski almost folds from a big knee to the body. Jorge continues the assault, lands a big uppercut, punches and hammerfists. Time up. They hug. Close tough fight to judge. Third round was clearly Jorge’s.

Round 1 – Silverio with a high kick. Leg kick. Body kick. Zeferino shoots, presses Silverio to the cage. Fighting hard for the single leg. Silverio defending well though. Right hands to the jaw from Silverio as Zeferino continues to look for the takedown. Ref has seen enough and separates them. Touch gloves. Leg kick, front kick from Silverio. Right hand, clinch. Zeferino puts him back against the cage. They trade knees. Elbows to the side of the head from Silverio and Zeferino gives up on the shot. Ref calls time for a low blow to Zeferino. Body kick Silverio, Zeferino gets a takedown but Silverio right back up. Zeferino with a body lock takedown attempt but ends up on bottom. Silverio stands up and lets Zeferino up. Left hook from Silverio. Leg kick. Nice head kick from Zeferino scores, but Silverio is fine and fires back with a body kick before the bell. Nice action. PMN scores it 10-9 Silverio.

Round 2 -Touch gloves. Front kick Silverio, leg kick Zeferino. Zeferino presses him to the cage. Body lock from Silverio, he turns Zeferino to the cage. Clinch, trade knees. Zeferino drops levels for the single. Ref separates them. Front kick Silverio. Left hook right hand from Silverio stuns Zeferino… he counters with a shot, stuffed, and ends up on his back with Silverio inside his full guard. Ref stands them up pretty quickly. One two, head kick from Silverio. Clinch takedown from Zeferino, on top inside Silverio’s full guard. Zeferino looks for the shot again but it’s stuffed and he eats several punches. PMN sees it 10-9 Silverio.

Round 3 -Touch gloves, they hug. Body kick by Silverio, Thai plum and knee to the head follows. Zeferino shoots, ends up on the bottom eating hammerfists and elbows. Zeferino gives Silverio an illegal kick to the head while grounded. Time out is called. Seems okay. Touch gloves. Body kick, punch from Silverio followed by a takedown. On top inside guard Silverio lands a right left, stands over Zeferino and kicks his thighs hard. Ref lets Zeferino up. Touch gloves. Overhand right, Zeferino shoots. Stuffed, Silverio clinches up and gets a trip takedown, ends up on top. Zeferino gives up his back. Silverio lands some punches then they let Zeferino up. Big one two punch from Silverio snaps Zeferino’s head back. Clinch, Silverio presses him to the cage. Foot stomps. Zeferino turns him around to the cage. Couple elbows from Silverio as Zeferino shoots. PMN sees it 10-9 and 30-27 for Silverio.

Round 1 – Leg kick Martins. Again. Body kick. Hernandez comes in swinging but eats a punch. Martins backs him up to the cage with a punch combo. Hernandez fires back with a right hand that scores. Martins lands more punches, a head kick, then drops him with a one two, then jumps on his back for a rear naked choke attempt. Both hooks in. Hernandez punches blindly toward his attacker but he goes out cold from the choke. Awesome performance from Lucas Martins.

Round 1 – Nice left hook from Souza, very fast and long. Fluid and relaxed. Left hook. Arantes with a skimming leg kick. Nice left hook from Arantes. Souza’s hands very low, body shot. Nice left jab. Spinning back kick attempt from Arantes. Left hook, straight right from Souza, very fast. Nice straight right to the body, again. again. Left jab. Backs Arantes to the cage, lands more punches, straight right to the body. Very fast and fluid hands from Souza. Big right hand, right to the body. Arantes gets a perfectly time takedown. Inside Souza’s full guard. Body shots from the top by Arantes. Souza locking him up pretty tight. Body shots from Arantes. Arantes postures up with a big right, passes to half guard with a guillotine attempt, drops some elbows, goes for a paintbrush, gets full mount before the bell. Close round… Arantes finished stronger so gotta go with him 10-9.

Round 2 – Left jab Souza. Leg kick Arantes. Leg kick again and again. Nice right hand from Souza. Body kick. Left hook from Arantes scores. Souza stalking. Arantes shoots, high single, presses him to the cage. Elbows to defend from Souza. Souza escapes to the center. Round halfway down. Right to the body from Souza. Again. left hook to the body. Backs him to the cage. Arantes baiting him with his hands down now. Right left from Souza. Left jab. Right to the body. Body kick Arantes. Leg kick from Souza. Right hook from Arantes to counter a spin kick attempt. Body kick Souza. PMN sees it 10-9 Souza.

Round 3 – Head kick from Arantes scores. Leg kick. Body kick. Left to the body from Souza. Leg kick Arantes. Lots of feints and movement from Souza. Leg kick Arantes. Right from Souza. Big right follows, another. Arantes back to the cage and Souza teeing off with punch combinations. Arantes shoots for a single and gets Souza on his back with 2:36 left to go. Souza gets up pretty quickly, Arantes fighting to drag him back down. Nice left elbow from Arantes in the clinch against the cage. Ref separates them. Left jab from Souza. Again. Under a minute to go. Arantes shoots, eats a hammerfist but Souza ends up on his butt against the cage. Body shots from Arantes. Knee to the body. More shots from Arantes before the bell. PMN sees it 10-9 and 29-28 for Arantes.

ALI BAGAUTINOV (10-2 MMA, 0-0 UFC VS. MARCOS VINICIUS (20-4-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC)

Round 1 – Vinicius much taller, hard to believe he’s 125 lbs. Bagautinov counters a front kick with a big punch combo backing Vinicius up to the cage, clinched. Knee from Bagautinov. Left hook then a right from Bagautinov drops Vinicius. He swarms him with punches. Vinicius scrambles but gets caught in a guillotine. He gets free of the choke and gets Bagautinov’s back during a scramble, both hooks in and landing punches. Vinicius trying to soften him up. Bagautinov gets to all fours briefly, then back to his knees. Vinicius still riding his back, transitions for an armbar, Bagautinov gets to his feet but gets slammed before the bell. PMN sees it 10-9 Vinicius.

Round 2 – Leg kick Vinicius. Body kick from Bagautinov. Left hand from Bagautinov. Nice punch combo follows. Catches Vinnicius’ leg kick and puts him on his back. Butterfly guard from Vinicius, able to get to his feet but gets put right back down by Bagautinov. Vinicius working on an omoplata. Now back with full guard. Elbows to the shoulders from Vinicius. Bagautinov stands up and lets Vinicius up. Big right hand from Vinicius, followed by a strong inside leg kick. Bagautinov gets a takedown before the bell. PMN sees it 10-9 Bagautinov.

Round 2 – Trade leg kicks. Leg kick inside from Vinicius. Bagautinov catches a leg kick, shoots in for the single, presses Vinicius to the cage. Vinicius defending well. Ref separates them. Leg kick Vinicius. Huge right hand from Bagautinov comes out of nowhere and drops Vinicius to the mat. He follows up with four more to the chin and he’s out. The ref steps in to save him. That’s a lot of power for a 125-pounder!

RAFAEL NATAL (16-4-1 MMA, 4-2-1 UFC VS. TOR TROENG (16-4-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC)

Round 1 – Touch gloves. Troeng with the height advantage. Leg kick from Natal. Again. Again. Troeng gets dropped with a right hand behind the ear. Sapo on top but gets swept and Troeng stands to his feet. Lands a nice left as he drops down on top in half guard. Somehow Natal hits a reversal and takes top control in half guard. Troeng almost hits his own reversal but Natal defends, locks onto Troeng’s neck. Troeng goes for the sweep. Natal in side mount now after defending the sweep attempt. Natal drops some short elbows. Troeng sweeps, takes top control inside full guard. He stands up as Natal tries to scramble to his feet. Troeng ends up back on top in half guard. PMN sees it 10-9 Natal.

Round 2 – A big right hand from Natal drops Troeng. Natal follows up inside guard with hammerfists. Troeng trying to hang on to stifle the attack, eats several elbows to the side of the head. Ref watching closely. Troeng hits a reversal though and ends up on top. Natal gives up his back, they are to their feet. Troeng gets tripped to his back. Natal dives in but misses with a punch. Natal on top in half guard now. Natal in side mount now. Troeng gets to his feet, presses Natal to the cage. Knee to the body from Natal, he turns Troeng to the cage. Looking for the single. Troeng turns him around now. Gets the takedown, but Natal rolls over and they are back up to their feet against the cage with Troeng looking for the single. PMN sees the round 10-9 Natal.

Round 3 – Troeng shoots in, Natal catches him in a standing guillotine. Natal ends up on top with the guillotine, Troeng reverses him and takes top control but his head is still controlled by Natal — okay he lets his neck go. Troeng on top in half guard. Troeng lands some punches but Natal hits the reversal and is now on top in half guard. Back and forth battle on the ground. Elbows from Natal to the side of the head. Troeng turtles up and Natal gets his back with both hooks in with half a minute left in the round. More elbows from Natal. Troeng closes the guard. PMN sees it 10-9 and 30-27 for Natal

PIOTR HALLMANN (13-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) VS. FRANCISCO TRINALDO (13-2 MMA, 3-1 UFC)

Round 1 – Fighters touch gloves, and we’re off. Both men measuring distance; Hallmann leading with exploratory jabs before finally connecting a stiff left. Well covered up by Trinaldo though. Counter to the body by Trinaldo. High kick by Trinaldo, immediately followed up by a big overhand; however, Hallman defends safely. Hallmann looks to apply pressure and close the distance, but Trinaldo takes advantage with a hard left kick to the body. Trinaldo immediately goes back to the body and drops Hallmann! Hallman finds his feet, but Trinaldo is right there to meet him. He forces Hallmann against the cage; however, Hallman checks out and separates. Several even exchanges by both fighters, as Trinaldo continues to force the issue with kicks to the body. Trinaldo shoots in for the double leg and forces Hallmann against the cage. Hallmann tries to work up to his feet, but Trinaldo is heavy on his back. Hallmann manages to escape to a standing clinch; however, it’s too little to late as the round comes to an end. PMN scores it 10-9 Trinaldo

Round 2 – Trinaldo attacks with a headkick, but Hallmann counters straight into a takedown. Hallmann in Trinaldo’s halfguard, unable to progress. Hallmann elects to stand, allowing Trinaldo back to his feet. Takedown attempt by Trinaldo results in a brief scramble. Leg lock attempt by Trinaldo; however Hallmann is out, and back to his feet against the cage. Good elbows in the clinch by Hallmann, and Trinaldo continues to work for the double leg against the fence. Hallmann slips out and lands in the guard of Trinaldo after a brief scramble. Hallmann passes again to the Trinaldo’s halfguard and lands some solid short elbows. Hallmann transitions to a far side kimura and slips into side control. He’s managed to step over the head of Trinaldo, and this looks deep. He’s got it! Trinaldo taps!

JOSEPH BENAVIDEZ (18-3 MMA, 5-1 UFC) VS. JUSSIER FORMIGA (15-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC)

Round 1 – Benavidez immediately takes the center of the Octagon at the opening bell. Formiga dances around the outside gauging distance. Benavidez comes forward with a quick flurry. Low kick by Benavidez is easily checked, as the two continue to evenly trade on the feet. Solid looping left by Formiga. Benavidez counters with an overhand right but fails to connect. Formiga still willing to stand directly in front of Benavidez, but he appears to be getting the worse of these exchanges. Benavidez catches him flush on the chin with a straight left and immediately jumps on Formiga! Formiga’s covered up, making no attempt to defend himself. And it’s all over. Lights out for Formiga.

YUSHIN OKAMI (29-7 MMA, 13-4 UFC) VS. RONALDO SOUZA (18-3 MMA, 1-0 UFC)

Round 1 – A lot of quick twitch head movement from Jacare, as he feels out Okami’s range. Two quick middle kicks from Jacare, followed up immediately with a stiff right hand that catches Okami on the chin. Okami’s up against the cage and absorbing a lot of damage, but manages to slip out of a brief scramble. We’re almost a full two minutes in and surprisingly still no signs of moving to the ground by either man. More range testing by both men. Jacare comes in with an overhand right; it’s blocked by Okami, but Jacare immediately follows up with another overhand that lands square on the chin of Okami. Okami’s down, and Jacare wastes no time following up that crippling right with unanswered punches from knee on belly position. And that’s it, Roberts calls an end to it. To say the Brazilian Souza’s striking has improved may officially be the understatement of the year.

RYAN BADER (15-3 MMA, 8-3 UFC) VS. GLOVER TEIXEIRA (21-2 MMA, 4-0 UFC)

Round 1 – Bader shoots in for the single leg early, but comes up empty. Big upper cut by Bader whiffs. Bader tries to fall back into a guillotine, but Teixeira easily slips out. Double leg takedown by Glover, but Bader manages to work his way back up to the feet against the cage. Bader reverses Teixeira up against the Octagon and works in some short punches and knees to the body. Bader looks to drop down for the takedow, but Teixeira catches him in a loose guillotine attempt. Bader is free, and the two separate. High kick by Teixeira misses just short. Teixeira takes up the center of the Octagon and Bader circles. Teixeira slips on a quick exchange, but is back up before Bader can take advantage. Teixeira circles with his back to the fence and tags Bader with a 1-2 combo as he’s coming forward! Bader’s feet fly out from underneath him as he hits the canvas, and Teixeira is all over him! Teixera is absolutely raining down blowns on the downed Bader, and Herb Dean steps in to put an end to the contest.
