Tonight’s the night. The longest reigning champion in UFC history, Anderson “The Spider” Silva (33-4) puts his middleweight title on the line against the man many feel will be the one to dethrone him. Twenty-nine-year-old Chris Weidman (9-0) gets his shot at immortality by going toe-to-toe with the G.O.A.T.

Will Weidman be the one to finally put a stop to the 38-year-old champion’s 16-fight unbeaten streak inside the Octagon? Pierce comes in swinging, shoots in and pushes Mitchell to the cage, drops down for a double, Mitchell defending successfully. Pierce is on a three fight win streak. Mitchell gives him an elbow and a knee and some body blows. Pierce still pressing him to the cage. Mitchell turns him around and they separate to the center. A couple of punches are exchanged and Pierce pushes him right back to the cage. Mitchell able to get some distance and land a one two. Pierce clinches back up though and presses him to the cage, knee to the body. Knee from Mitchell, turns Pierce around. Move to center, couple knees from Mitchell and dirty boxing. Knees from Pierce, he presses him back to the cage with 90 seconds to go in the round. Couple knees from Mitchell. Pierce tries for a single, lets it go. Mitchell escapes to the center. Pierce slips a punch, lands a big right then a big leg kick. Pierce presses him back to the cage. They exchange knees before the bell. Short right from Mitchell. PMN sees it 10-9 Mitchell.

Round 2 – Pierce presses him to the cage right away, going for a single. Mitchell defending and landing short punches. Body shots. Pierce backs out. They exchange punches and Pierce shoots once more. Mitchell gives him a knee or two and backs him out. They exchange punches, nothing too significant landing. Clinch, knees from Mitchell to the body, body shots. Pierce presses him to the cage and drops Mitchell with a short left hook. Pierce swarms him with hammerfists and referee Steve Mazzagatti eventually stops it.

One two from Melancon. Big left hook to body follows. Left hook and another from Melancon, uppercut. Thai plum and knee to body from Baczynski, front kick. Baczynski with a cut over his right eyebrow, high kick. Huge left hook drops Baczynski. Melancon stacks him with punches, eats an upkick. Melancon lets him up. Cheers from the crowd. Counter left hook from Baczynski. Front kick from Melancon. Baczynski shoots, presses Melancon to the cage. Lets it go and backs out to the center. Melancon looks like Frank Shamrock to me. He scores a rather easy takedown. Baczynski trying to get up but eats some punches and Melancon presses him back to the canvas, on top in half guard. Knee to body from Melancon. Melancon stands up and lands a big left and a couple more punches at the bell and Baczynski goes out. Referee Yves Lavigne waves off the fight after the bell. Very impressive debut for Brian Melancon.

Round 1 – “Tractor” rocking a nice new beard. Leg kick from Edson. Left hook from Tractor. Big leg kick from Edson, again. Huge body kick follows. Again. Big left hook to body and Tractor now knows he’s in a real fight. Big leg kick from Edson. Right from Tractor. Tractor shoots for a single but Edson escapes. Leg kick from Edson. Tractor shoots, stuffed. Spinning back kick and leg kick from Edson. Right hand from Tractor. Leg kick from Barboza. Tractor shoots, Edson escapes. Right to body from Tractor. Leg kick from Barboza. Tractor continues to come forward. Clinch, Edson shrugs him off, big leg kick. Jab, leg kick from Barboza. Body kick, leg kick. Tractor is limping. Lands a one two. Right counter. Eats two big leg kicks. Tractor ducks a wheel kick but loses his balance and falls to his butt. PMN has it 10-9 for Edson Barboza.

Round 2 – Touch gloves. Leg kick from Barboza, he catches a kick and drops Tractor with a right. Ref lets him up. Now Tractor does the same thing but he can’t keep Edson down. Spinning back kick from Edson. Big leg kick from Edson. Again. Tractor goes for a single but no dice. Big leg kick from Edson and Tractor goes down, one more time and referee sees this fight is over and waves it off. That’s two fights now that Barboza has finished his opponent with leg kicks. Amazing.

Gabriel Gonzaga vs. Dave Herman

Round 1 – Herman looks like he’s waiting in line for a hot dog as they announce his name. Touch gloves. Front kick from Dave, again. Leg kick from Dave and Gonzaga drops him with a big counter right hand. Gonzaga follows up with punches and Kim Winslow jumps in to save him. Just like that. Maybe a bit of an early stoppage but Dave doesn’t seem to be complaining. Renzo Gracie was in Gabe’s corner this evening. Gabe has also put on some muscle, weighing in at 260+ lbs. It’s almost certain Dave will be cut from the UFC following this loss as it’s his fourth straight loss in the Octagon — three losses by (T)KO and one submission.

Drops down for a single. Gets Tokudome down but he immediately bounces right up. Parke hangs onto his waist and drags him down, Tokudome reverses position and ends up on top inside full guard. They trade punches, flying knee from Tokudome, Parke lands a left and shoots, puts Tokudome down, gets mount. Tokudome reverses, gets to his knees, grabs a single, stands up for a takedown attempt. Round 3 – Touch gloves. They trade punches. Tokudome pressing. Parke shoots for the single, turns the corner, presses Tokudome to the cage. Body lock takedown from Tokudome, Parke reverses and is hanging on a front headlock. Tokudome gets to his feet, clinched against the cage. Elbow from Tokudome, another one. Parke looking for the trip takedown but Tokudome ends up on top. Parke gets up, they square up. Leg kicks from both. Head kick from Tokudome, they trade lefts. Leben with dirty boxing, imposing his will. Nice knee to body from Leben. Leg kick from Craig inside. High kick, blocked, but lands a nice one two that wobbles Leben. Brief clinch before Craig backs out. Leben a little more cautious coming forward now. Lobs an overhand left and presses Craig to the cage, drops down for a single. Craig goes down a split second but right back up. Clinched against the cage. Knee from Craig. They trade punches. Body shots from Leben. Craig backs out to the center. Leben stalking. Craig shoots deep, stuffed. He presses Leben to cage, Leben turns him around, body shots. Time. PMN scores it 10-9 Leben.

Round 2 – Leben stalking right away. Swings big, Craig ducks. Leben presses him to the cage. Foot stomp. Knee from Craig. Dirty boxing from Craig. Body shots from Leben. Craig trying to finish and swarms him with punches. Full zombie mode somehow Leben gets to his feet. Craig turns him to the cage, backs out. Crowd chants “Leben”. Leben stalking. Knee from Craig and a couple left hands as he holds the back of his head. Clinch, body shots from Leben. Craig backs out. Leben stalking. Leg kick. Leben gets shoved to the ground, eats a right hand. Craig inside his full guard. Leben looking for submissions, gets to his feet. Still stalking. Right hand. Nice counter punch from Craig. Craig with the takedown. Elbow off his back from Leben. Craig in half guard. Leben using the cage to get up. Still stalking. Craig shoots and puts Leben down again. PMN sees it 10-9 for Craig but the fight 29-28 for Leben. Could easily go to Craig though. By the way, Craig is a training partner of middleweight Tim Kennedy. Leben has now lost three in a row and four of his last fight…. I don’t see them cutting Leben yet but he’s got to get it together.

Siver catches a spinning kick and puts Cub on his back. Siver on top in half guard, trying to pass. Siver passes to side mount. Knee to the ribs. Siver controls as Cub tries to escape. Elbows to the body from Siver. Siver goes for full mount, very close, foot caught in half guard. Siver postures up with punches, controls the body of Swanson, now trying to pass. Cub locks on a guillotine choke, uses it to stand up. Siver stands with him, high kick, blocked. Big leg kick from Cub but Siver counters with punches. PMN has it 10-9 for Siver.

Round 2 – Left hook from Siver, high kick. Checks a leg kick. Spinning back kick from Siver. Body kick from Cub, right hand. Nice leg kick from Siver, right hand, high kick, blocked. Siver shoots, stuffed. Cartwheel kick from Cub misses. Leg kick Siver. Leg kick Swanson. Nice striking going on here. Inside leg kick from Cub. Siver returns same. Body kick from Cub. Right hand. Nice uppercut from Cub, big judo toss from Cub, lands in full mount. Siver was completely upside down. Cub postures up with punches. Siver reverses, has his back with under 10 seconds to go. Big right hand from Cub, looking like Bruce Lee in there. Cub hurts Siver with a few more right hands. Siver is on his back getting teed off on. Cub finally has to tell referee Herb Dean that he’s out. Herb concurs.  Beautiful performance from Cub Swanson. His fifth straight victory.

Round 1 – Mazzagatti is the referee. Touch gloves. Front kick, right hand from Boetsch then takes Munoz down, but he rolls him over and his right back to the feet, clinched against the cage. Big takedown from Boetsch. Landing punches as Munoz gets to his feet. Knees to thighs from Boetsch. Body lock. Munoz backs out to the center. Boetsch pushes him to the cage, big knee to body. Munoz with a body lock takedown, traps his legs but Boetsch gets to his feet. Munoz with body lock, drags him down. Boetsch rolls, ends up on his feet. Munoz looking for the double. Puts Boetsch on his butt. Boetsch holding a front headlock. Goes for a guillotine, sweeps to top position. Scramble and Munoz to his feet, lands a couple nice right hands. Boetsch with a right hand in return. Munoz with the clinch, knee to thighs. Hammerfist to thigh. Knee from Boetsch to thigh. Big knees from Munoz and a one two. HUGE shots. Boetsch gets to this feet. Munoz puts him back down. He postures up with punches to the head. Boetsch gets to his knees. Body shots from Munoz. Boetsch gets to this feet, presses him to the cage, drops levels. Munoz lays his weight on him and lands some big body shots. Boetsch holding a single but is paying for it. Round 3 – Touch gloves. Right from Munoz, uppercut, Superman punch, shoots for a single. Boetsch goes for a guillotine, Munoz rolls him and ends up on top. Boetsch goes for a Japanese necktie now. Munoz escapes but Boetsch goes for an arm now. Munoz escapes and rides his back. Big hammerfists as Boetsch is on his knees. Body shots and hammerfists to the head from Munoz. This is the Filipino Wrecking Machine in full effect. Big punch to body and head from Munoz. Boetsch goes for a knee bar but pays for it with big punches. Munoz looking for a kimura, loses it. Tim gets to his feet but Roger holding his back. Tim gets up, takes a knee to the body. Underhooks by Tim against the cage. They separate. Leg kick Tim. Roger catches a leg kick. Thai plum, couple knees from Roger. Clinch, Roger drops levels against the cage and puts Tim down. Roger has his back, both hooks in. Body triangle. Roger softening him up with nice punches. Tim sweeps before the bell. PMN sees it 10-9 Gracie.

Round 2 – Touch gloves. Leg kick from Tim. Again. Jab from Roger. Tim pushes him to the cage. Tim gets a trip takedown. Roger gets to his knees and eats a couple big shots. Roger goes for his leg but Tim escapes and is landing big punches as Roger turtles up. Roger tolls to his feet. Tim roughing him up with dirty boxing in the clinch. Knee to the body, elbow. Roger turns him around, knee to body. Tim turns him around. Knee to body, trip takedown by Tim. Under 2:00 to go Tim on top in half guard. Roger gets full guard. Round 3 – Touch gloves. Front kick Roger. Leg kick from Tim. Again. Again. Roger being very tentative. Left hand, two leg kicks from Tim. Leg kick. Body lock from Tim, knees to the thigh from behind. Blind elbow to the head from Roger, Tim lets go. More leg kicks from Tim. Side kick. Roger clinches up, drops levels for the single and gets Tim down but for a very brief second. Tim lands some knees to the thighs, pressing him to the cage. Under 2 minutes to go. Elbow from Tim. Ref separates them. Right hand from Tim. Roger looks asleep. Leg kick Tim. Tim with a big right. Round 1 – Frankie needs this win badly. No touch of gloves. Nice right by Edgar. Oliveira shoots, stuffed, Edgar pushes him on his back. Oliveira goes for a leg, Edgar escapes, Oliveira gets up, lands a knee. They reset. Front kick from Oliveira. Edgar goes to slam him and he pulls guard. Edgar working from inside guard. Oliveira goes for an arm, scramble to the feet. Right left from Frankie. Knee from Oliveira. Leg kick. Nice jab. Left hook from Frankie. Right to body from Frankie. Thai plum, knee to body from Oliveira. Body shots from Frankie, right to Oliveira. Frankie shoves him to the ground as he tries to clinch. Jab from Oliveira. Body body head, uppercut from Frankie. He tosses Oliveira to the mat, kicks his legs. Lets him up. Nice uppercut from Oliveira, nice combo from Frankie to the body and head. Right to body from Frankie. Kicks his thighs and the ref lets him up. Nice right hand from Oliveira. Edgar catches a kick. Knee to body from Oliveira. Left to body from Edgar. Edgar with a takedown, lets Oliveira right up. Edgar tags him with a right but Oliveira lands a nice counter. Elbow. Oliveira trips him, he’s right up and hurts Oliveira with a couple right hands. Another one. Round 1 – Uh oh. Sensei Seagal spotted cageside. It’s a wrap. Weidman walks out to Tom Petty’s “Won’t Back Down” draped in an American flag. Anderson walks out to DMX and bows to the ground before entering the arena. Roy Jones Jr. is cageside. It was announced earlier that UFC President Dana White has a special announcement regarding GSP after this fight… could it be the super fight if Anderson wins? Probably so! Anderson looks calm as ever. Calm and ready. Crouched on the ground when his name is called. He bows to three corners. Weidman sticks out his glove to touch. Silva bows, does not touch. Holy Sh*t. Here we go. Weidman shoots, puts Silva on his back. Weidman on top in half guard now. Weidman working some ground and pound. Postures up. He lands a couple rights. Weidman goes for a leg, heel hook. Silva spins out to his feet. Silva with hands down. Weidman lands a one two. Silva with underhooks. Silva toying with him. Lands a knee. Righ hand from Weidman. Anderson with some leg kicks and a right. Anderson getting him into a stayndup game, leg kick. Leg kick from Silva. PMN sees it 10-9 Weidman.

Round 2 – Ray Longo told Weidman to punch a hole in his f*ckin chest. Anderson tells him to come on. Anderson showboating. He shoots, Anderson stuffs it. Leg kick Silva. Leg kick Silva. Silva dodges a few punches, hands at his sides, but Weidman catches him and Silva goes down after a punch or two. Weidman finishes him off and Herb Dean stops it. WTF. Silva just got way too cocky.
