KANSAS CITY, Mo — “Global Warrior Challenge: British Invasion – U.S. vs. U.K” takes place this evening from Sprint Center in Kansas City, Mo. and airs LIVE on television Pay-Per-View starting at 8 p.m. ET (5 p.m. PT). In the main event, former WWE superstar Bobby Lashley (8-2) is right back inside the cage for the second time this month as he takes on heavyweight Brit Matt Larson (2-2). In the co-main event, former UFC heavyweight champion Ricco Rodriguez (51-19) looks to continue his winning streak as he takes on British up-and-comer Marcin Lazarz (5-1).

In a Team U.S. vs. Team U.K., country vs. country format, the card is stacked with UFC vets, UFC hopefuls and some of the U.K.’s top rising stars. MMA notables Ron Kruck, Karyn Bryant and Jens Pulver will be calling the action on the television PPV broadcast. “GWC: British Invasion” play-by-play:

Wayne Cole vs. Jack Marshman

Round 1 – Touch of gloves to kick off the PPV. Cole measures Marshman with the jab then connects with a right hand over the top. Marshman steps back and misses with a kick. Cole ducks in and gets rocked with a counter right from Marshman. Cole is staggered and immediately dips in for a takedown. Cole trying to land from the top as Marshman looks for a sub attempt. They scramble to their feet. Marshman measures up Cole and drops “The Hammer” on Cole, rocking him with a right hand. Cole is hurt, but trying to survive. Marshman swarms and connects again, dropping Cole. Cole eats a few more right hands then manages to get to his feet but not for long. Marshman connects again, dropping Cole right back to the canvas. The referee has seen enough and steps in to intervene. Impressive finish for Marshman to put Team U.K. up 2-1.

Jake Heun vs. Dayman Lake

Round 1 – Heun scores with an inside leg kick to start. He looks fast. Lake seems a little tentative to start. Heun using lots of head movement, then leans in and scores with a combo. Lake pressing now, big, winging right hand just misses by Heun. Double jab, body by Heun. Lake throws a big right hand but it’s way from the outside and misses. Leg kick Heun. Superman punch, right hand by Heun. He is mixing up his striking nicely. Another leg kick by Heun. He fakes low then goes high with the kick. Lake has had enough of that. He changes levels and gets the big slam. Heun kicks off and gets back to his feet, then takes Lake to the canvas. Heun is staying busy. He flurries from the top with big left hands. Lake, shrugs him off and gets back to his feet. Heun attacks, landing knees up the middle, elbows, right hands. Damn!!! Lake goes for the takedown again but gets caught dipping in. Heun locks up the plum clinch and delivers knees up the middle. Lake survives somehow, then takes Heun to the mat and takes the back of Heun. Lake is snaking his arm under the chin of Heun. He may be in trouble. Heun is fighting off the submission but there is still 30 seconds to go. Lake is still working and he slips the choke under the chin. Uh oh!! He’s cinching up the choke and the tap comes! Nice comeback from Dayman Lake.

LC Davis vs. James Saville

Round 1 -Both guys mixing it up right out the gate. Davis connects with a straight right hand. Saville is trying to close but eats a left hand for his troubles. Saville shows off his TKD with a spinning kick that misses badly. Davis closes and clinches, putting Saville on the cage. Davis drops for a single, works Saville off the cage then looks to take the back. Saville scrambles to retain his guard and gets it. He’s trying to control the posture of Davis now. Davis postures and lands a flurry. He’s standing over the open guard of Saville now. Savill threatening with upkicks. Davis dives back into the guard of Saville. Davis is punishing Saville now with elbows from the top. Saville opens up his guard to try to make something happen from his back. He rolls, but Davis is relentless with his control. He’s still on top in the half guard now. Davis grinding again with short elbows. Saville has no answer for the control of Davis. Davis standing over Saville again. Saville doing a good job with his legs. He lands an upkick then rolls. Davis to the north-south position looking for the neck. He locks up the head but runs out of time. Easy round for Davis. PMN scores it 10-9 for Davis.

Round 2 – Saville comes out kicking, but it’s Davis that lands a flush right hook. Saville fires back, then goes to the spinning kicks again that fail to connect. Davis is landing the cleaner shots. Nice right hand from Saville. He lands another right hand as Davis ducks into range. Saville goes to the jab, but Davis counters with a big left hand. Again. This time it’s the left hook from Davis. He’s snapping Saville’s head back with that left hand. Davis changes levels and puts Saville right back on the canvas with 2:30 to go in the round. Davis again scores from the top. Saville is trying to use his length but Davis is showing great control once again. Saville trying to sneak his legs up high and work a high guard but Davis recognizes it each time and postures out of trouble. Saville kicks off and gets back to his feet. Saville looks a little like Michael Cera from Superbad. Now I keep thinking about him singing that song from that scene in the movie. Maybe that would help him in this fight. End of 2 and Davis takes the round. PMN scores the round 10-9 for Davis.

Round 3 – Saville needs a finish to win this fight. Davis closes. Saville is on his back again and it’s early. Big elbows from Davis. He is pouring it on as the crowd starts to get loud. Saville is a bloody mess but he’s hanging in there. Davis continues to punish Saville. Saville manages somehow to scramble to his feet. Davis is pressing him into the cage looking to take the fight back to the floor. Davis peppers Saville’s body with left hands. Davis is still pressing the action. Saville has to get off that cage. Davis backs off, flurries, then closes and gets the slam much to the delight of the crowd. Davis with shots from the to. Saville throws up his legs looking for anything out of desperation but Davis postures out of trouble easily. More shots from Davis. Saville nearly gets an arm just before the bell, but loses it. Total domination by LC Davis. PMN scores the fight for Davis 30-27.

Kevin Asplund vs. Oli Thompson

Round 1 – Two huge guys in this one. Thompson looking to throw early. Asplund ducks in and delivers a right hand, then gets taken down. Thompson on top now. Short, grinding elbows and left hands from Thompson. Thompson again with elbows. He’s punishing Asplund from the top. Asplund tries to shrimp out and get his hips free but he’s getting smothered by Thompson. Asplund’s face is a bloody mess. He’s busted up pretty bad. No change from Thompson. He’s content just laying in the half guard of Asplund and delivering devastating ground and pound. Asplund has got to get out of there. He is simply unable to shake Thompson. More elbows from the top and the referee takes a quick look. He’s seen enough and steps in to stop it.

Kendall Grove vs. Danny Mitchell

Round 1 – Mitchell with the jab after Grove misses with the kick. Kicks by Mitchell. He follows up with a three punch combination. Grove going to his jab now. Lead left hook by Grove. More kicks from Mitchell. He’s mixing up the strikes. Nice stiff jab from Mitchell. Grove is flashing his jab, but Mitchell is landing with more power. One-two combo from Grove. Then a head kick that’s blocked. Grove closes and clinches but can’t get the takedown. Mitchell puts him on the cage. Big elbow on the break. Grove fires back with knees up the middle. Big exchange in the pocket with both guys landing. Grove initiates the clinch. They exchange positions on the cage. Mitchell now pressing. Close first round so far. A takedown could decide who takes the first. They break. Grove lands a nice kick, then a left hand. Mitchell fires back with a left hook. Grove counters over the top. Nice action in this one!! Back to the clinch. Uppercut then a huge right hand from Grove!!! He drops Mitchell and then pounces. He delivers a couple more shots and it’s over right before the bell. Nice finish by Grove.

Drew Fickett vs. Andre Winner

Round 1 – Fickett comes forward right out of the gate. Winner not respecting Fickett much. His hands are really low. As I type that he connects with a left hand. Fickett dips in and clinches. He puts Winner on the cage and lands a knee as they disengage. Winner showing off his laser-straight jab. Winner is bouncing on his feet as he circles away from Fickett. Fickett is still pressing the action. He ducks under a right hand and puts Winner on the cage. Winner fights for underhooks then presses Fickett off and takes the center of the cage. Big kick connects for Winner. Fickett shoots in for a single but can’t secure the takedown. Winner turns and puts Fickett on the cage then delivers a smashing knee up the middle. Winner peppers the body of Fickett with short right hands. Fickett pushes off and takes the center of the cage. Winner connects with an uppercut as Fickett tries to get inside. Fickett fires back with a one-two combo. Winner connects to the body with his left, then lands a right hand. Fickett again shooting for a takedown but Winner shrugs it off and ends the round on top. PMN scores Round 1 for Winner, 10-9.

Round 2 – Fickett pressing to start the round. Winner with a crisp one-two combination. Fickett fires back and connects with his right hand. Fickett then presses forward, tying up Winner on the cage. His corner is calling for the takedown but so far he has been unable to secure one. After the restart, Winner scores again with that blazing hand speed. To the head now, but Fickett ducks the attempt. Straight right hand from Winner. He didn’t even set it up with the jab. His hand speed is letting him dictate the striking with ease. Fickett again fails to get a takedown. Fickett finally seizes an opportunity when Winner misses with a head kick. He ducks under, then takes that back of Winner. He jumps on the back, gets his hooks in and goes to work on the RNC. Winner is in deep trouble. He’s peeling off the hands of Fickett, but there is a ton of time left in the round, and he’s carrying the weight of Fickett. Winner is hand fighting nicely, trying to control the wrist of Fickett. He’s trying to shake Fickett of the top. He survives the round. Wow!!! PMN scores Round 2 for Fickett, 10-9.

Round 3 – I bet Winner doesn’t throw that head kick again….. Now to the third. Winner coming forward now. Fickett looks tired to start the final round. He closes and clinches. Fickett nods to show that he hears his corner. They break. Winner lands down the middle, then throws a spinning back kick. Fickett stays in the pocket and lands a stiff left hand. Fickett is winging his punches now. Winner looks much crisper. Fickett connects to the groin, so that action is stopped for a few seconds. Back to the action. Fickett shoots on the restart but is stuffed. Fickett gets back to his feet. Winner with a clubbing right hand. Big left to the body, then another right hand from Winner. Left hook, right hand by Winner. He’s winning the round with just under 2 minutes to go. Fickett again is stuffed. Fickett immediately throws a 3 punch combo, then shoots again. Not even close. Winner has done an excellent job fighting off the relentless takedown attempts by Fickett. Back to the clinch. Fickett needs a finish, but seems content to clinch with 30 seconds to go. Winner leaning on the cage with Fickett pressing. Fickett finally drags Winner to the mat but time has run out. PMN scores the final round for Winner, and the fight overall for him as well, 29-28.

Ricco Rodriguez vs. Marcin Lazarz

Round 1 – Lazarz with a jab to start. Rodriguez closes. Leg kick Lazarz. Rodriguez is being really patient to start. Lazarz sticking to his jab. Rodriguez finally throws and it’s a big right hand. Rodriguez ducks under a right hand and connects. Lazarz comes back with a stinging leg kick. Rodriguez goes high with the kick but Lazarz blocks it easily. Lazarz again with a kick. Still not much action in this one. Under a minute to go. Rodriguez fires back with kicks. Boos coming from the crowd now. Lazarz pressing now. Bell. Round one over. PMN scores it 10-9 for Lazarz.

Round 2 – Rodriguez comes out with a sense of urgency to start. Will they finally pick up the pace? Lazarz goes right back to his kicks. Rodriguez pressing, and snags a single. He works Lazarz to the mat but can’t keep him there. Back to the feet. Rodriguez leans in and looks to secure the body of Lazarz. Very awkward looking. Lazarz wings a left hook that forces Rodriguez to step back. To the clinch now. Lazarz pressing Rodriguez on the cage. Not much action on the cage. I’m surprised the ref has let them stay here this long doing nothing. Rodriguez pushes off and breaks the stalemate. It’s anybody’s round in this one. Winging right hand from Rodriguez just misses. He shoots in again but Lazarz shrugs it off and ends up in top position. He’s in the full guard of Rodriguez now. Rodriguez swings his hips and goes for the armbar but Lazarz senses it and pulls free, then stands up. Boos picking up again from the crowd. Lazarz with an inside leg kick. Lazarz shoots right before the bell and secures a takedown. PMN scores Round 2 for Lazarz as well.

Round 3 – Rodriguez coming forward again. What did his corner tell him between rounds? He has to do something significant in this final frame. Lazarz connects with a right hand, but it’s one-and-done. Winging right hand from Rodriguez. Jab Lazarz. Clubbing left hand from Rodriguez. He uses it to set up his shot, but it’s stuffed. Lazarz on top again. Lazarz does nothing on top, then jumps clear and stands. Back to the feet. Rodriguez with a left hand to the body. Lazarz counters. He seems content to just counter at this point. Rodriguez closes and puts Lazarz on the cage. Break. Reset. Rodriguez looks slow and lethargic. Lazarz is avoiding most of the strikes easily but is doing nothing to put a punctuation mark on this final round. He counters nicely with an uppercut as Rodriguez steps in. Jab from Rodriguez. Lazarz still doing nothing except for countering on occasion. This round goes to Rodriguez only because he pressed forward while Lazarz did nothing. PMN scores the fight 29-28 for Lazarz.

Bobby Lashley vs. Matt Larson

Round 1 – Larson took this fight on 5 day’s notice. Lashley shoots in immediately looking for a single. Larson fights it off but is pressed into the cage. Lashley re-shoots and gets the takedown. Larson scrambles back up, but Lashley shows off a highlight reel takedown bodylock slamming Larson back to the mat. Larson turtles up now. Lashley takes his back, then quickly cinches up a tight rear naked choke. The tap comes almost immediately.
