The UFC on FX 8 event on Saturday night has come and passed with some questions being answered while other questions were formed.

Vitor Belfort won his second consecutive fight via headkick and Ronald “Jacare” Souza made an impressive UFC debut with a first round submission win over late replacement Chris Camozzi in the co-main event. Let’s put on our Joe Silva matchmaker hat and see what’s next for some of the fighters:

Vitor Belfort: It’s interesting that Belfort isn’t openly asking for a rematch with UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva. He has blitzed through two highly ranked middleweights in his last two fights with ease. However, the perfect opponent for Belfort would be Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza. A win for Belfort would be three ranked middleweights in a row, but a win for “Jacare” would solidify his shot at the UFC middleweight title.

Luke Rockhold: We didn’t really learn much from his fight with Belfort since it ended so quickly, plus he was coming off a long layoff. I think he should still fight an upper tier guy. A fight with Constantinos Philippou would make sense. Philippou was supposed to fight “Jacare” on the card but had to withdraw with an injury.

Ronald “Jacare” Souza: See Vitor Belfort

Rafael dos Anjos: It was a close fight, but personally, I thought Evan Dunham should have gotten the judges the decision. With that said, I think dos Anjos should fight someone like the winner of the upcoming Donald Cerrone/KJ Noons fight at UFC 160.

Evan Dunham: Tough break for Dunham. A bout with Jim Miller would be a good scrap with both guys coming off losses(even those Miller’s loss was turned into a NC).
