Mixed martial arts legend Frank Shamrock was a guest on Thursday’s edition of the 1st Quarter radio show on 102.5 FM The Game (Nashville Sports Radio).

As always, Frank will be performing commentating duties this weekend on Showtime when Josh Barnett and Daniel Cormier put a bow on the Strikeforce heavyweight tournament. Frank shared his thoughts on the tournament final between Barnett and Cormier, as well as the Strikeforce lightweight title fight between Gilbert Melendez and Josh Thomson.

Frank also talked about the submission victory that put him in the Guinness Book of World Records and answers the question if he still ever feels the itch to compete inside the cage. Frank discussed his role in MMA history and gave his opinion of whether or not Daniel Cormier should think about moving down to light heavyweight.

Frank discussed his feelings of Zuffa’s purchase of Strikeforce considering his past relationship with the UFC, and he talked about the challenges he has faced of making the transition from being one of MMA’s pioneers and superstars in the cage to the role he now plays as commentator.

He also talks about the long-term dangers MMA fighters can face and if the sport is doing enough to make fighters aware of those dangers. Frank talks about all this and much more on this episode of the 1st Quarter radio show hosted by Darren McFarland, Brad Hopkins and Chris Pappas.
