ProMMAnow.com (www.prommanow.com) reporter and Fisttacuff Radio host Anton Skoro caught up with female MMA fighter Carla Esparza (6-2) at Tuff-N-Uff earlier this month while she was there to support her friend Ashlee Evans-Smith who captured the 140-pound title with a unanimous decision win over Bridgette Batch in the co-main event.

Esparza’s last fight was back in December when she won a unanimous decision victory over Felice Herrig at XFC 15. The Team Oyama fighter discussed what’s been going on in her career since the win over Herrig. She had a fight scheduled [with Angela Magana] but it fell through after her opponent was injured in a car accident.

Esparza talked about a possible fight at Invicta FC 2 later this year and she shared her thoughts on what it means for women’s mixed martial arts to finally have an all-women’s promotion. Esparza discussed the evolution of women’s MMA and how it is not so much centered around “one face” like it has been in the past.

The last defeat on Esparza’s record (there’s only two) was a close split decision loss to Jessica Aguilar at Bellator 46 in June 2011. When asked who she would most like to fight, Esparza made no bones about it, “Jessica Aguilar, I want you. I want that rematch.”
