Mark Munoz will face Chris Weidman at UFC on FUEL 4

Mark Munoz vs. Chris Weidman will meet each other in the main event of UFC on FUEL 4 event slated to take place on July 11th in a yet to be announced city and venue. The matchup was announced on UFC Tonight which airs Tuesday nights on FUEL TV, and this will be a five round main event.

This will be Mark Munoz’s (12 -2) first bout after an elbow injury removed him from the UFC on FOX 2 card where he was to face Chael Sonnen in a number one contender matchup for a shot at the Middleweight championship. Munoz is on a four fight win streak with his last victory coming by way of a TKO over Chris Leben at UFC 138.

Across the cage from Munoz will be undefeated middleweight contender Chris Weidman, whose last bout was at the same UFC on FOX 2 card that Munoz had to withdraw from. Weidman took a fight against former number one contender Demian Maia on about two weeks notice and defeated him by decision to improve his record to 8 – 0.

With the impressive runs both men have been on in mowing through middleweight talent this bout could have number one contender implications.  As of now, no other bouts have been announced for the UFC on Fuel 4 card.
