UFC President Dana White announced Friday that Frank Mir (16-5 MMA, 14-3 UFC) will replace Alistair Overeem (36-11 MMA, 1-0 UFC) against UFC heavyweight champion Junior Dos Santos (14-1 MMA, 8-0 UFC) for the title in the UFC 146 headliner on May 26.

Overeem, the former Strikeforce heavyweight champion, will appear in front of the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) on Tuesday, April 24, in Las Vegas, technically to seek licensure and answer for a failed March 27 surprise drug test that showed an elevated testosterone to epitestosterone ratio.

Mir was originally slated to fight Cain Velasquez (9-1 MMA, 7-1 UFC) on the UFC 146 card, however, it has not yet been confirmed who, if anyone, will step in for Mir. UFC 146 will take place on Saturday, May 26, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and feature and all-heavyweight main card.
