NEW YORK – Following the success of Fight for B.O.P.E. last year, Shooto Brazil will return to the international stage with Shooto 28 on March 10th. Brazil’s top MMA promotion will air live on the GFL Combat Sports Network (http://www.gfl.tv ) at 6:00 pm EST.  The show will be available to viewers worldwide (except or Brazil) via the Internet as well as via their IPTV devices (Roku, Boxee, Popcorn Box) and via mobile devices (iPhone/iPad, Droid and others)

Shooto Brazil, in association with pay-per-view partner G-Funk Sports & Entertainment will stream Shooto 28 live on a worldwide basis via GoFightLive.  The show will be headlined by top Brazilian fighter Carlos Eduardo taking on Argentine champion Angel Orellana.  Eduardo fought current UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones in 2008.  The card will be rounded out with seven additonal bouts pitting some of the best up-and-coming fighters in Brazil today.

“I’m really excited to showcase so many top Brazilian athletes to the U.S., and to the world”, said Andre Pederneiras, President of Shooto South America and head of Rio’s Nova Uniao camp, the most respectedteam of fighters in Brazil and one of the best in the world.

“Shooto Brazil has always been the proving ground for future champions in MMA.  Now fight fans get to see the next crop of future champions live, from the birthplace of MMA.”  Among the fighters to come from Pederneiras’ training are UFC athletes Jose Aldo, Renan Barao, Ronny Markes and Luis Eduardo Beição.Many more top fighters like Marlon Sandro and Eduardo Dantas currently fight for Bellator and others still for Dream and international events.

The August 25 “B.O.P.E.” show was a private event for Rio de Janeiro’s Special Police Operations Battalion and had the attendance of famous MMA names such as Urijah Faber, Clay Guida, Joseph Benavidez andScott Jorgensen.  Now with the broadcast of Shooto 28, an international audience will have a ringside seat just as Faber, Guida and friends did in August.

“We at GFL are honored to have a storied fighting tradition such as Shooto on the GFL Combat Sports Network. Brazil being the home of many forms of the martial arts, has produced many world Champion fighters.
