Matt Mitrione(left) will face Christian Morecraft at the UFC Live 4 event

A heavyweight showdown between Matt Mitrione and Christian Morecraft will be the first fight televised on Versus for the UFC Live 4 event. Mitrione is undefeated since leaving the TUF house and Morecraft  rebounded to win his next fight after suffering the first loss of his career against Stefan Struve.

Matt Mitrione comes into this this fight with a career record of (4-0) with 3 TKO/KO’s to his credit. Mitrione is still young in his MMA career, but has a very long reach and good power  in his strikes. He’ll be looking to keep this fight on the feet against the larger Morecraft.

Christian Morecraft comes into this figth with a career record of (7-1) with 4 wins via submission and 3 via TKO/KO. The lone loss came via knockout to the aforementioned Struve. Morecraft is a pretty sizable heavyweight and will probably look to take Mitrione down to unleash ground and pound or to take advantage of his inexperienced ground game.

I expect Mitrione to come out and try to establish his striking range with his jab with Morecraft looking to use his size to put Mitrione against the cage and attempt to take him down. If Morecraft is able to take Mitrione down, it’ll be tough for him to get Morecraft off of him. If he’s unable to do so, he’ll need to create some type of scramble situation where he can use his athleticism to transition back up to his feet. He had the power to put Morecraft away if he lands and that’s what he’ll be trying to do. Tough fight to call and the winner will be the one who imposes their will and makes their opponents fight where they want to fight.
