A sold out crowd of 16,000 people packed into the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Calif. to watch “UFC 104: Machida vs. Shogun.” A live gate of $1.9 million was announced at the post-fight press conference by UFC President Dana White.
White also announced the following “Fight Night Bonuses:”
- Submission of the Night: Stefan Struve (triangle over Chase Gormley) – $60,000
- Fight of the Night: Pat Barry vs. Antoni Hardonk (Barry won by TKO in round 2) – $60,000 each
- Knockout of the Night: Pat Barry (Barry won by TKO in round 2) – $60,000
White said Anthony Johnson should have won knockout of the night with his win over Yoshiyuki Yoshida, but because Johnson did not make weight for the fight, he was not allowed consideration for the bonus.
