UFC middleweight Hector Lombard

UFC President Dana White tweeted that middleweights Hector Lombard and Rousimar Palhares will fight one another at the UFC on FX 6 event in Australia on December 15th.

The city, venue, and other details will be announced soon according to the UFC website.

Hector Lombard (31-3-1, 1NC) made his long awaited UFC debut at UFC 149, losing in an upset to Tim Boetsch via split decision. The loss snapped a huge winning streak for the former Bellator middleweight champion who claimed he was suffering from a chest injury going into the bout. The majority of Lombard’s fights have taken place in Australia and he will be returning home where he was on the 2000 Olympic Judo team.

Rousimar Palhares (14-4) is coming off the TKO loss to Alan Belcher at the UFC on FOX 3 event in May. Palhares had won three consecutive fights prior to the loss. He’ll be looking get back on the winning track with a big win over someone like Lombard. Lombard really needs to win this fight convincingly if he wants to get his stock on the rise again. The loss to Boetsch was a big setback which likely cost Lombard a title shot against Anderson Silva.

This event is also expected to host final fights from the “The Ultimate Fighter: Australia vs. U.K.” series.
