UFC middleweight Chris Weidman

UFC officials officially announced that middleweights Chris Weidman and Tim Boetsch have verbally agreed to fight one another at UFC 155 on December 29th in Las Vegas.

UFC 155 is expected to be headlined by the UFC heavyweight title fight between Junior dos Santos and Cain Valesquez. Dos Santos won the first fight between the two last November via TKO to become the new UFC heavyweight champion.

Chris Weidman (9-0) is coming off the most impressive win in career when he took out Mark Munoz via TKO in July. Weidman is (5-0) in the UFC and believes he is the number one middleweight contender.

“I think I’m the number-one contender in the division but with Anderson not fighting for the rest of 2012, I want to stay busy and keep getting better,” said Weidman. “I think I’m the best middleweight in the world and I’m going to prove it against another top contender.”

Tim Boetsch (16-4) is coming the huge upset split decision win over former Bellator middleweight champion Hector Lombard at UFC 149. Boetsch is undefeated (4-0) since moving to the middleweight division after previously fighting as a light heavyweight.
