Pro MMA Now Radio returns tonight at 10 p.m. ET (7 p.m. PT) with UFC stars Joseph Benavidez (@joejitsu) and Chris Weidman (@chrisweidmanUFC).
Benavidez was slated to star in the main event of UFC 152 but after today’s announcement from Dana White Joe will have to share the spotlight as co-main event while Jon Jones vs. Lyoto Machida occupy top billing. Benavidez has been waiting patiently for his shot at the first UFC flyweight title since defeating Yasuhiro Urushitani back in March of this year. He will face Demetrious Johnson for the right to wear the championship belt.
Much talk about Chris Weidman after his July win over Mark Munoz. Many believe Chris should be the next man to face Anderson Silva. Weidman is a believer of this as well. Having risen from a short notice fighter to a main event draw, Weidman was courting for his shot at Jon Jones when it was learned Dan Henderson had to withdraw do to injury.
Both men are also trying to claim victory in the 2012 Team Edge Challenge. A sponsorship from Edge Shave Gel and the cover of the brand’s can is up for grabs. We will see what these guys can do to help persuade you to vote for them.
Also coming on the program will be two of Tennessee’s highly regarded professionals. Nate Landwehr and Josh Ward will come on to discuss their next fights which go down in Knoxville, Tenn. as part of XFC 20 “High Octane”
