July is a super busy month… We got home about midnight on Sunday/Monday morning, I took an ice bath during the day Monday, then hit the gym that night to help Ferg finish getting ready for his big fight Title fight on the 27th.  He will be facing Duran Flaget for the Fight Force 135lb Title, on July 27th in Kalispell, Mont., at the Majestic Valley Arena!  Come out to watch my teammate bring home the W and his first title.  I will be there, along with my coach for the weekend, feel free to stop by and say hello!

So I have been back in the gym every day since I have been home, thank goodness for ice baths.  I also competed in the Big Sky State Games on Saturday.  When I arrived, the commissioner advised me that none of the women from the other gym were interested in grappling me, so I offered to compete in men’s advanced.  The rules changed from regular points tournament to a “sub only” — however, we had a time limit? It was only five minutes for the advanced as well.

Here is my 1st match and my 2nd match.  There were three of us in the division, I went the five minutes with both, no one was tapped. The guy who got first won it for going five minutes with me and tapping out his teammate.  My question is if it’s a “sub” only match, why is there a time limit, shouldn’t it go to sub?  The important part is we all walked away injury free, had some fun and it was a learning experience, as any competition should be.

We had our two youngsters, Yardley and Wyatt competing in the teen division.  Both of them are only three months in, and beginner was to be six months and under.  Unfortunately, Yardley was sandbagged and cheated on, however, this comes with the sport (as with any).  Wyatt earned a bronze!  We are extremely proud of their sportsmanlike behavior, as well as Yardley’s look forward and come back stronger attitude.  I never saw Yardley cry after getting tapped out on Saturday, but the cheater got tapped and ran by us crying.  Karma…

See you all at Kalispell Kombat! Weigh ins are Thursday and the fights are Friday at the Majestic Valley Arena. Come out, watch the fights and be sure to stop by and say hello! Thank you all for all of your support!  We ended out the weekend with a little training, then a bbq with the youngsters, and their dad (our friend) Allan.  Thanks for having us over! We also hit up the skate park, there are a couple pictures from that as well.  Good job Mark!
