The Super Fight League promotion has announced the main event for their third fight card which will be a heavyweight clash between former WWE wrestler Bobby Lashley and MMA veteran James Thompson.

The event is set to take place on May 6th at the IGI Stadium in New Delhi, India, and the event will be broadcast via the Super Fight League’s Youtube page (www.youtube.com/SFL).

Lashley (7-1) was last seen in action submitting Karl Knothe at the Shark Fights 21 event last November to win the promotional heavyweight championship.

Lashley has rebounded to win consecutive fights after suffering the only setback of his career against Chad Griggs in August 2010. Lashley also owns wins over MMA veterans Bob Sapp and Wes Sims.

James Thompson (17-14, 1NC) is coming off a verbal submission win over Bob Sapp at the inaugural SFL event in March. Sapp verbally submitted after injuring his leg three minutes into the first round.

Thompson has won back to back fights (with the no contest sandwiched in between) which ended a stretch where Thompson had lost eight of nine fights dating back to 2007.

The SFL promotion also announced the following bouts for the SFL 3:

  • Trevor Prangley vs. Baga Agaev (LHW)
  • Doug Marshall vs. Zelg Galesic (MW)
  • Lena Ovchinnikova vs. Joanne Calderwood (125lb)
