Lords of Combat poised to build Southern California’s MMA nerve center by arranging fight cards with all SoCal fighters.

Orange County is now home to Lords of Combat — the first exclusively Southern California (SoCal) MMA event promotion company dedicated to raising local talent.

The SoCal MMA tradition began in 1978, when Rorion Gracie moved to Southern California and setup a makeshift gym in his garage where he taught his family’s style of the grappling art Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Fast forward to today and the SoCal MMA scene has grown into a burgeoning mix of MMA gyms, zealous fans and dangerous talent. Yet those involved in the scene know there isn’t a single MMA promoter that caters to the region.

Until now.

Spurred by a vision of SoCal as the birthplace of American MMA, Lords of Combat is poised to build SoCal’s MMA nerve center. Through making great fights with local fighters, Lords of Combat will breed the best MMA fighters in the world, preserving the SoCal MMA tradition.

“Never before have SoCal fight fans had the opportunity to crown the best fighters in the SoCal region,” said Lords of Combat President Anwar Elmahrek. “Lords of Combat will make that a reality.”

Lords of Combat will be holding its first tournament series of MMA fight nights culminating in a championship event at a date yet certain. The first event — Lords of SoCal, Round 1 — is slated for Sept. 17th at the UCI Bren Events Center.

The events will feature fighters from Orange County, Riverside County and San Diego County to name a few. Winners will be guaranteed a bigger purse and the chance to fight again in the second event.

The idea of the tournament series — and the Lords of Combat mission — is to not only find the best fighters in the region, but to also nurture the local talent and raise another generation of champions with SoCal roots.

“We [Lords of Combat] are offering Southern California fighters an opportunity to to represent their towns,” Elmahrek said. “We want to take them under our wing — to build them into fierce fighting machines.”
