WORCESTER, Mass. – In one of the best fights of the night at “Moosin: God of Martial Arts” women’s MMA stars Tara LaRosa (18-2) and Roxanne Modafferi (15-5) battled to a three round decision.
The fight was a rematch of a 2006 match that also went to a decision. LaRosa won the first bout, but Modafferi got the nod on Saturday. It was a close fight and could have gone either way. LaRosa got dropped in the first with a Superman punch right on the chin and Modafferi got dropped in the third.
Modafferi’s striking had noticeably improved since their first fight, and it was probably the biggest factor in her split decision victory over one of the most respected and toughest women in MMA today.
