Former PRIDE FC phenom and UFC Light Heavyweight Rameau-Thierry Sokoudjou has reportedly been released by the UFC.

Sokoudjou (5-3) burst onto the scene early last year by knocking out perennial PRIDE Middleweight’s Antonio Rogerio Nogueria and Ricardo Arona in his only two PRIDE appearances. While he became an instant star in the Japanese promotion, his success did not translate over to the UFC.

In three fights inside the Octagon, “The African Assassin” compiled a 1-2 record losing to Lyoto Machida and recently Luis Arthur Cane last month at UFC 89. He defeated Kazuhiro Nakamura in May for his only win within the promotion. Conicedently, Nakamura himself was released by Zuffa following the loss.
